The Blog of the Week

  • Hello all, Emer here!

It's time for another Blog of the Week, and Blogs Host Armathyx has chosen Studying Abroad by The Orange Mask.

    H
ere is Armathyx's description of the Blog:

This week we'd like to highlight The Orange Mask’s new blog, Studying Abroad. It’s not the latest Shakespeare in terms of writing, nor is it the next Sherlock Holmes in terms of plot development; the story is simple: a rather mundane battlemage sets out to discover the world. It’s almost trivial, but that’s exactly what I like about his blog.

You can relate to the main character right off the start. The way he describes the world around him, the way he interacts with other characters, it’s the same as us when we began playing Skyrim. He’s actually quite good at making those humorous first impressions, thanks to the laid back attitude of his main protagonist.

It’s not the ultimate badass who’s achieved everything in the world; rather, we get a fresh start.  And not a ‘fresh’ start off Helgen like we already read a thousand times, The Orange Mask has decided to build his own story, with his own ideas and you can tell he’s leading us down his own path. There’s something big going on and I’m eager to find out what he’s got up his sleeve. Could it be about the gods? About the extinction of the Dwemer? About the Akaviri? Who knows. In any case, it’s worth a shot!

So head on over to the Blogs section and give Studying Abroad a chance! In my opinion, it's definitely worth a read!

This was my first time reading anything by "The Orange Mask"; I like the first-person view-point and the story flows nicely.
Also I am pleased to see these regular 'features' have returned.
