Character Building Event: Crossworlds 2

Hello everyone and welcome to the latest Character Building Event! Now I know that we said that we’d be alternating between events and contests, but we’re holding off on doing a contest this time for a very special end of the year event. We promised to make Crossworlds an annual event, and now it’s back again for round two!

For those of you who weren’t around when we ran it the first time, I’ll explain what the theme of Crossworlds is. Simply put, your build must be based on a character (or a class, faction, etc.) from a fictional universe other than The Elder Scrolls, or even from real life! However, you cannot make any direct references to your inspiration. In other words, you need to “Skyrimize” your inspiration. What do I mean by that? I’m going to steal Noodles’ explanation for this.

I want people to find similarities between the Elder Scrolls world and the chosen universe/character, then greatly expand on them. Have a look at the Daughter of Coldharbour, my take on Sylvanas Windrunner. Sylvanas Windrunner was turned against her will into an undead. Every Daughter of Coldharbour is raped (something against her will) before being turned into a pure vampire (or undead). The two are both archers with necromantic powers that have a knack for possessing people or bending their minds. Why does the DoC like enslaving or dominating people? Because Molag Bal, her master, is the daedric prince of domination. I just took the original concept and made it work, made it feel natural in the Elder Scrolls world using lore and a lot of imagination. This is what it means to Skyrimze a character.

There are two exceptions to this rule. First, you can include artwork of your inspiration in the build. Second, you can talk directly about your inspiration at the end of the build. For more examples, check out last year’s Crossworlds builds.

    Rules and Requirements

    • Participants that are new to character building must read and understand both the Group Rules and Character Building Guide. I also recommend that you take a look at this Build Template in order to get a good idea of how to format your event build.
    • Your build must be based on a character from a fictional universe other than the Elder Scrolls or a real life figure.
    • Your build cannot make any direct references to your inspiration. Artwork and the ending section of the build are the only exceptions to this.
    • Let us know in the comments below if you are participating and what your character/universe of choice is once you've decided on it (or let us know if it's a surprise build).
    • Your build must be posted between the 7th of December, 12:00 AM EST and the 21st of December, 12:00 AM EST.
    • Your build must use the “Event Build:” prefix in its title rather than the normal “Character Build:” one.
    • Your build must have an event rank tag and use the Event:Crossworlds2 tag. All other tags are allowed to be applied, with the exception of the rank tags for normal character builds.

If you have any questions about the event then feel free to post them in the comments below and one of the CB hosts or someone else will answer it for you. Also, you might’ve noticed that the posting window for this build is a little later than last time and it’s also twice as long. This is because Crossworlds saw significantly more builds than any other event before or since, and we’re hoping to see similar success this time around. After the 21st of December, we’ll take a quick break; then we’ll announce a brand new contest at the beginning of 2016. Finally, be sure to keep an eye out for any Hall of Fame announcements over the next couple of days; we’ll start adding new builds to it in the very near future!

Heya there, just wanted to drop in and say that Revan can really be so much more. With the original game it leaves her skill set so open ended that you can make her into an assault assassin with insane speeds (translation Slow time shenanigans to replicate master speed), disorienting blasts (unrelenting force to replicate force wave), vampiric theft of health (potion of destruction souped up vampiric drain to replicate drain life), and even capable of full on health support (restoration spells to replicate Improved Heal). Also the game left her combat style so open that she could easily be a dual wielder and it would make the character feel fluid and organic. Or she could even be an insane ward-mage to be the ultimate jedi-master sub-class. I mean what is more badass than being able to laugh at your opponents attempt at magic (or to her the Force) and then brutally tearing them a new one with the exact same move? Also another thing to consider, jedi and dark jedi didn't use armor and she would instead use clothing. The reasoning is that the game (for balancing purposes) made armor negate plenty of force abilities. The exception to this rule was later on in the sequel that there was a specific set type of armor that didn't interfere but it suffered a dexterity maximum that you could benefit from it. Even with this nugget many players chose robes because with lightsaber finesse perk your dexterity not only translated to ranged accuracy and Dodge rate but also your attack modifier for your lightsaber swings. Anyways before I get too off track, I'd recommend going robes only style. Also, you could use the Ebony Blade for this character. The aesthetic is awesome, the effect is amazing and it would be more reminiscent of the opening scene to KoToR with Revan having been more of a single blade duelist. Idk just some things to think about I guess.

Revan is canon male, and, you could use SWOTOR and the novel, plus the comics, to see more of what Revan is.

My humblest apologies. My only information is from having played the two games which do admittedly bend to how you play. In truth though I was trying to pump up DB because Revan is such an amazing character and would be so much fun to roleplay in Skyrim man. Another fun character from that universe (technically anyways) would be Naga Sadow. I believe he was the original Sith Assassin (archetype/ class style) and preferred using blades as opposed to lightsaber for the more visceral feel of it.

I actually did play Revan in Skyrim, and I DO have a Darth Sion inspired build in the works, and a Nihilus one on here

Trust me Fevnall, I know a lot about Revan, I've played the KoTOR games religiously + read the KoTOR series (Though admittedly i have yet to play The Old Republic MMO) and have thought a lot about this character from both a Roleplay and Gameplay point of view (I've been working on a Revan Build since I released the Lightsworn, so a couple months now)

If I did end up creating the build it wouldn't be that special in terms of Builds here. I generally like to make a build interesting from a Gameplay and Roleplay perspective and Revan is either a combination of Mage and Spellsword. He's my favorite character of all time, but Vanilla Skyrim can't do him justice. I could try a SkyRe Revan, and that would work well, it adds a lot of cool spells which come right out of Star Wars (Push, Pull, a Gravity Spell, more interesting vanilla spells).

So trust me mate, I don't need any pumping up for Revan, at all, I have ideas that simply can't be replicated easily with this Event, or more precisely Vanilla Skyrim (I don't want to play Modded Build for this) but I will be re-creating Revan at a later date, when I can play it at great lengths with mods. (In other words, I call dibs on Revan)

Thanks for trying to pump me up for it though Fevnall. Though trust me, both Fenris and Merrill are going to be way more interesting builds (I do believe I have a problem with Dragon Age 2 Builds, this will be my 2nd and 3rd for Crossworlds)

You okay man? Im sorry if i struck a nerve with my ignorance (really i am pretty ignorant on the lore because i assumed the game created canon and fan fiction established it) but i gotta ask, are you planning on doing Darth Treyus next (ofc after you finish Sion)? Gotta get the master if you already have the triad of her students.
