  I see that the Favourite RTS thread is rumbling along nicely, I haven't commented because I don't play RTS games - somehow I always end up panicking when the clock is ticking in an RTS and end up spending too long pondering what to do whilst getting absolutely smashed

  Probably that's why I prefer the more sedate city-building game genre. What do I mean by that? Well, let me give you a few examples of the ones that I've played over the years

  • Caesar 3
  • Sim City 4
  • The Settlers
  • Anno 1404
  • Stronghold
  • Tropico 3
  • Pharoah
  • Zeus

  I confess I do like to micro-manage my cities - but it does rather seem to be a genre that has faded away over recent years.

  Who wants to nominate a favourite? And are there are city-builders around at the moment that I should check out?

  Off all those games, the Anno series is probarly the most focused on building your city and micromanaging it. I myself find it very boring but it is very complicated so, I would nominate that if it comes to building a city.
