    I had bad experience with w8.. advice in general is to ditch w8 all together and go w/ w7.. but these fellas had better luck;

    Before we go bashing Windows 8 (like shooting fish in a barrel), exactly what kind of laptop do you have? What processor? How much RAM? What kind of video card does it have if you can even find out? Most laptops that aren't designed for gaming/editing don't have video cards capable of running games or editing videos...

    Well, not that long ago I worked on a laptop with 540m w/ optimus on it and didn't seem to respond all that well w/ w8 & skyrim running. But that's just from my experience.

    I've got Skyrim on my windows 8 laptop with around 30 mods and it runs fine

    My laptop specs are if they matter:

    •  i7–4700MQ Processor (2.4–3.4Ghz)
    • Intel ® HM87 Express Chipset
    • NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 740M Graphics with 2GB GDDR3 Video Memory
    • 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 System Memory (1 Dimm) 1× 8GB

    I play on medium settings and have the resolution at 1600x900 and get around 30-40fps

    I am on a Desktop running Win8, and if anything, it runs far better than it did in 7.  The problem might not be Win8 per se, but maybe your hardware?

    Yeah, I have an Acer Windows 8 laptop with Skyrim. It ran slow as hell, and I just stick to Xbox.
