Trouble With Making Smithing Legendary

    New to the site so please forgive me if I am beating a dead horse....

    I recently downloaded the latest update for the 360 and started making my skills legendary.  All are working fine except for Smithing.  I have finished the quest (way before the updte posted) where you recieve "Ancient Knowledge" and I think that is where the problem stems from.  When I make smithing legendary and try to use items I have enchanted to bump up my improving...they do not work.  I have four clothing items, each boost my smithing up 30 percent yet when I try to improve any armor or weapons, it's as if I am not wearing anything at all.  Anybody else having difficulty with this?
