In Oblivion, I search everywhere for weapons that are good. Finding a weapon saves money and makes me feel more accomplished, but if I see a really good weapon in a store I'll pick it up.

I prefer finding them because not only do they usually have nice enchantments, but they remind me of the troubles that i went through to get it.
I like to get them from "mini bosses" in dungeons etc. They tend to have an awesome enchantment then and of course you can soul trap the original owner to recharge the weapon.

Beyond that, when I can't buy houses and pretty things to decorate them I just get richer and richer.
I wouldn't be above buying things in stores, it's just not generally been as exciting or interesting. And all the BEST stuff is looted/stolen/forged by the gods and passed down to you anyway!
