Valaya of the Emerald Void Chapter 2 Treacherous Void Part 2

  • In my dream,

A warm, gentle breeze causes a tickle on your face, but as I go to brush it off, I find I cannot move My

    arms

    Looking at my skin,

I realize that it has turned into a brittle, green glass.

    Standing perfectly still,

I breathe in shallow gulps of air, knowing that moving

would cause my skin to shatter into thousands of pieces.

The tickle on my face worsens,

and I know that I am about to sneeze. As my skin shatters, I let out a scream

    I awake sweating.

A nightmare leading into the worst day of my life in a long time, what a way to start the morning. I enter my students chambers only to found Liliana still asleep. I smile as a brush her hair out of her face, but the smile soon leave my face as my mind is forced back to my dealings with the dark ritual. I placed my hand over my stomach where that dark empty crater exist as a consist reminder of the shame of the ritual.

A tear founds its way down my cheek, and lands on my sleeping acolyte waking her.

"Finally awake." i said trying to hide any signs of my emotions.

"Master?" Liliana said with a puzzled face I could tell she had something to ask me.

"Out with it." I said turning my back to her trying to regain my composure.

She spoke,"Master I just wanted you to know, I'm no fool. I noticed sense the first day i was placed under you. I watched you so that I may one day become like you. I know that gash under your chest was a result of the ritual. I also know that you were far stronger then than I am now." she paused

"However, I have faith in the abilities you instilled within me, I will comeback a daughter of Coldhabour." she looked at the floor as she continues," Well.. i would have said or die trying but considering those are my only options, I'd rather not"

In no time at all the time of the ritual had arrived, Gavriella and Eris were talking when they saw us approaching."Are you alright Valaya?" My sister asked noticing my newly bandaged side injury.

"This. Its nothing to be concerned about, she didn't hit anything vital." I spoke trying to act as if she were simply over reacting.

"You trained her well" Gavriella continued, "I knew it would be in the girls best interest if you were the one to train her. Eris would have without a doubt have killed her, and i would have probably turned her into a vampire by now. I knew only you would take the abilities she had coming with and focus solely on honing those."

It was not often that my sister would compliment me, but she was wrong in this regard. I spoke," It was not necessary. In arriving here along with two others who already received the gift of vampirism she proved she was on pair with them as she was. If i had turned her as soon as she got here her body would not have fully developed limiting her overall potential."

"Very enlightening, lets just hope she has what it takes to survive." Eris interrupted

At the moment the door opened and signifying the ritual had began

Lea stepped forward first, we all believed she would. In all aspect she saw herself the most powerful of all the acolytes having been trained by Eris. She felt she had to follow in her master footsteps seeing as Eris was the first tribute back when we descended into darkness.

"Liliana come this way." I said motioning her into the hall out of sight of my sister and Eris

"Where do you think your going?" Eris hissed

"I'm going to comfort my apprentice, is that a problem?" I responded

"Worried?" Eris replied a hint of pleasure in her voice

"No not quite. I simply want her to go into this without regrets" i said as i turned my back on Eris so that she could not respond

After what seemed like a lifetime Lea was thrown from the throne room her body lump and her eyes lifeless without a doubt the spark of short life had come to an end. Eris tried to look away however her eyes where drawn to indescribable site of her former apprentices' body, if it could even be called a body at this point. Molag Bal roared,"Weakness! send me the next candidate! "

Morgan's body was shaking and sweat was pouring down her back. I knew this feeling all too well, she was afraid. Eris screamed,"Morgan get in there!"

Morgan replied,"No... I've been lying to myself sense the very beginning... I'm not like you. None of you. I simply wanted this power to ensure my survival, but i have already achieved a level of power beyond that which most vampire could even dream of acquiring. And this...  This is suicide i don't wanna die."

Gavriella spoke to calm her acolyte,"Morgan listen to me I wish you had told me about your worries beforehand i could have comforted you, so that you wouldn't be feeling the way you are right now. However this is neither the place nor the time, if you turn back now you're died."

"Gavriella the Sapphire Valkyrie."Morgan said with pleading eyes, "it was an honor to be taught by you, I do hope that if we meet again we will be on the same side. I would give anything to be strong like you, to have your courage, and more than anything to have your ability to connect to others. Farewell Master." And in an instant Morgan broke out into a cold sprint towards the main hall as she passed her former master a tear falls from Gavriella eye.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry I wasn't a better master, maybe this all could have been avoided." My sister whispered under her breath as she drew her sword in an instant Morgan's head lay on the floor the shock still in her eyes. Her eyes pleading with unending curiosity as if screaming, why? as her body turns to dusk.

"My my so dramatic." said Eris with her composure now intact, "Little did our little apprentices know that we were ordered to execute them if they every tried to leave this please without permission. But enough talk its Valaya's acolytes turn Lian or whatever her name is." Eris scans the room only now noticing my absence. "Where is Valaya?"

"Valaya?" Gavriella eye grew large, "She couldn't possibly."

"Come on Liliana, we are almost there. I'll get you back to Niin if it kills me!" I shout as I grab my wounded side. at this rate killing me is more than possible.
