LIVE ROLEPLAYING: The Uncommon Races II

  • Hello all, Tae-Rai here, posting on behalf of Emer who is sadly too busy to post this.

For those who are unaware the Uncommon Races is a cooperative feature between the Live Roleplaying Group and The Story Corner, and we think it is going to be a very fun way to introduce the "uncommon races" to the Live Roleplaying Group.

The term "Uncommon Races" represents extremely unusual races that players can create characters for in Live Roleplaying: Skyrim. They are one in a million, so unusual in modern Tamrielic society that meeting even one is a once-in-a-lifetime event for those lucky few that ever come across their path. Given that these characters are so exceptional, we here at Live Roleplaying have decided to challenge players in return for the privilege of creating such a character. That is where this feature comes in. Every two weeks or so we will be holding "contests" for one specific uncommon race, and the winner of said contest will earn the privilege of playing as that race! This week the contest is as follows:

"Aboard a ship heading for Archfall's port, a Maormer is tied to the mast and is unconscious while the ship's crew surround them, nervous about what they have found. They were fished from the sea, clinging to a keg of mead near a ship wreck and only has a weapon at their hip and a strange tattoo on their neck."

    The Rules of the Races:

    1. The entry must be in the form of a 500+ words short story.
    2. This entry must contain all relevant information for this character (such as age, name, gender, general backstory, etc).
    3. You can only have ONE uncommon race character. Once you win one of these contests, you are not eligible to enter another until one week after said character dies or is retired.
    4. If you win and later decide to retire or kill off the character, you don't get another chance with the race. You're done, and cannot re-enter any future contests for that race.
    5. This character, if you win, will be given to you as an additional character (meaning you can have two/three characters, as long as this is one of them).

    6. Your character will have to follow the normal rules for Character Creation, and is still subjected to all of the group's rules and regulations.
    7. The quoted section above must be somehow included (not word for word, it can vary) in your story. If you don't add it in, you can't win!
    8. To enter, post your character journal as a blog post and link it in a reply to this discussion (be sure to follow the Story Corner's rules for blog posts!).

We will be judging all entries based on creativity, writing capabilities, realism, lore-friendliness, and originality. The winning character journal will be featured as a Featured Blog Post sometime during the week following the contest! We hope to see some interesting and creative entries, so start writing!
