The Gurre Plains

  • Here we are going to talk about the Gurre Plains, to give you a mental image on what the realm looks like, below is a picture on how it looks like. I'll also be taking about the other Daedra that roam this realm, so if you ever find yourself in the Plains...be careful, if the Havkins don't get you...something else will.

    The Gurre Plains

As the name suggests it's mainly consists of huge plains like areas, somewhat flat and hills dotting here and there, the perfect place for a war. One moment you'll be in your camp minding your own business, the next thing you know you spot an army of Havkins pouring down the hillside. The realm is strategically created for war, there are places to preform ambushes and places for head to head fighting. One can make good use of the environment if they know how to, that is if they survive first.

But the Plains isn't just an endless area of hills and plains, it also has tall and steep mountains, cliffs, extremely deep lakes and forests. The mortals in the realm make use of their surroundings and create strongholds made out of wood and stone, some create strongholds that float on water so it's further away from land and less likely to be invaded, but not less likely to be attacked by the other creatures that are within the realm.

    Bestiary

    Scamps

Small and mischievous, they are a 'gift' given to Marbel by Mehrunes Dagon on Jester's Day. The arrival of the Scamps were much of an annoyance to the Havkins, but soon the Havkins began to turn the Scamps into their servants. The Havkin-Scamp relationship is a bittersweet one, the Scamp can sometime be annoying to the Havkin and the Havkin can sometimes be mean to the Scamp.

Most of the Scamps are servants of the nobles, but lately the Havkins have tried an experiment using the Scamps, and learned that in large numbers, Scamps can prove to be a great force, due to that they began adding Scamps into their army's ranks, having them serve as soldiers. The thought of turning the Scamps into cannon fodder was perished when it was brought up, why waste good fighters when you have them?

    Flame Atronachs

These Daedra run wild in the plains and are dangerous to both Havkin and mortal. However, some Havkins skilled in magic have tamed some of these Atronachs and use them as bodyguards, some are found accompanying bards, acting as dancers, and some joined the ranks of the Havkins on their own will and there's one well known Flame Atronach called Fillis that is ranked captain of of her squad.

    War Shucks

Or more commonly known as Shucks, these creatures are created by Marbel and as the name suggests created for war. They are the Havkins' counterpart of Tamriel's dogs. They have en-longed snouts, long serrated fangs, red fur and a set of legs that are as fast as a wolf's and as strong as a bear's.

The Shucks use their speed and agility to chase their targets and then knock them down with their strength, their saliva is coated with a poison that is meant to cause pain when applied to a wound and paralyse its prey, that means it can't run and is slowly eaten alive by the Shuck. The Havkins use the Shucks as torture machines when they want to get something out of mortals, they let their pets eat them a little bit to make them talk, and after they have what they want, they let their pets have a meal.

    Qualitolis

    (Pronounced Qua-li-toe-lis)

Giant purple-blue serpents that live in the lakes of the Plains, they are considered the biggest creatures in the Plains and are the rarest to be seen. They spend their time deep in the lakes where food is abundant, but they come up to shore to lay eggs and mate. Some mortals picked the wrong places to settle and end up becoming a meal for these huge creatures.

Their hide is strong enough to withstand even the strongest blow from the strongest hammer, Havkins and mortals alike usually choose flight rather than fight when they meet this creature. Marbel claims that the creature's creation was not her fault, but rather an accident when she fell sick and unleashed some of her magic upon the Plains and Tamriel.

    Traylits

Small bat like creatures that are usually found living on the cliff faces in the Gurre Plains. The highest amount of Traylits found on a cliff face is over nine thousand. They are highly territorial and will attack anyone who enters their territory, they swarm their intruders with  their sheer numbers and deliver bites to the unfortunate intruders, even if they survive, they'll die from blood loss or infection.

Despite their ferocity, Havkins have been known to find nests of these creatures and have a Havkin mage lure them towards him or her and wipe them out with a strong blow of magic. This technique wipes out most of the population in the nest, but it's not a problem to them as they reproduce fast. The ones killed are later sent to be grilled and eaten.

    Juhnit

    (Pronounced Joo-net)

These creatures are four-horned goats, Marbel gave them the name due to a Havkin insult she made up, it goes "May you wake up next to a Juhnit!" Upon being questioned what a Juhnit was, she produced a four-horned. The Juhnit are the main livestock of the Havkins, they provide milk, cheese and meat. Their meat tastes like beef when grilled and chicken when cooked in stew. Their backs are strong and can carry load that is twelve times their weight, because of that they are also used as beasts of burden.

Their size is twice a normal goat's size, and the females have horns, the males don't. When threatened, they spit in their attacker's eyes and kick them in the groin, followed by being spat on again.

    Leucrotta

    (Pronounced Lew-crot-a)

In war you useall the advantages you can get, one such advantage is the Leucrotta. Its is a mount creature of the Havkins. It has the skull of a horse yet a snout of a weasel, it has brownish fur and the males' head sports a pair of small antlers that are used to attract mates. It's body is sleek, like a deer's but its legs are as strong as a horses. What it lacks in endurance, it covers with speed. It would take 2 mortals to take down one Leucrotta and its rider, given that the humans have enough skill, but the humans would have to be fast enough first. A Leucrotta can literally run circles around a human army and are usually employed as mounts for scouts.

A Leucrotta as a vicious creature, a grown Leucrotta is hard to tame, possibly even impossible. It has to be tamed when its a child, but the Havkins never breed it in captivity, they said it makes them 'soft'. The child would either be taken away, or the Havkins would have to fight the mother for it. It would seem cruel, and by all means it is, the Havkins see this a a challenge, sometimes its a trial. Its mouth is lined with sharp fangs and it can crush chests with a single stomp. Only a few are employed in the army, they are usually lightly armored, with bits covering its head and flanks, but once successful in taming a Leucrotta it would be fiercely loyal to its rider and will fight even charge head on into a full armed mortal army mainly consisting of Orcs and Nords with its rider, its loyalty no matter how strong has its limits though. Ill treatment of a Leucrotta mount would cause it to immediately try to kill its offender, even if its it's rider, that's why a few are employed.

    Rockgrain Giants

No one expects seeing a Giant in the Gurre Plains. Well, they are the perfect siege machines, big, strong, and apparently one Giant clan is worshiping Marbel as a god and send its warriors to fight with her. Giant clans have several different camps, and one Giant camp spans over from Hammerfell to High Rock. Their clan name translated from Giantish means Rockgrain. I have no idea why they're called the Rockgrain, but we have Giants on our side. Giants.

That's all for now, but this might be changed for Marbel is not done creating new creatures yet, and currently she has yet to produce a mount for the Havkins. This is the end of the documentary on Marbel, the Havkins and the Gurre Plains, hope you enjoyed it.

Thanks! But the inspiration came mainly from this site and some of it's builds, so I thank the site. I also thank Bethesda for creating awesome games like Skyrim, without it...this site wouldn't exist.
