The Mysterious Voice - Ch. 1 - A Dragon and an Elf

  • Alduin the World-Eater. I wreak havoc wherever I go, I am the blood of the first dragons. Nothing stands in my way. I landed on the small grey tower, much to the fear of puny humans. They scattered everywhere as I unleashed my voice, bringing a fiery death to those who dared to stand in my way. The feast began as I glided across the land in search of my first kill. As I dived I caught him in my jaws and I could see the fear in his eyes and judged him for his weakness. All I saw was fear. The scared look in is eyes as my teeth closed around his flimsy body and crushed his soul. I continued to rain death on the town, setting buildings on fire and people alike. I had feasted well, hunting as I pleased and I as flew over the town, to my next destination, I could feel the power of the Dovah near me, pondering what it could be. *** I came out of the clearing in a daze, not fully believing the events that had just passed. As the death flew above, the cold Skyrim wind snapped me out of my state and I ducked for cover. Hadvar said it would would be better if we split apart and just like that I was left alone; a light snow was slowly falling an freezing my exposed limbs. I got the feeling he didn't want to stick around with me anymore then he had to...My directions were to follow the road and reach Riverwood, a small logging town. There I would meet Alvor and she would feed and clothe me. I set off, in nothing but my dirty rags and a sword by my side and I travelled down approaching 3 large totems. Each stone had a different carving on it. The stone that caught my eye had an intricate and detailed carving of a Mage; I glided my hand over its smooth surface and a burst of light exploded upwards into the sky, filling me with a sense of power. I could hear the distant clang as steel clashed against steel and I arrived closer to what I thought was Riverwood. As I approached the small town two giant wolves approached me, fangs out. I was poised, ready for action. I glared at their eyes, a deep blood red, hungry for the kill. The larger one lunged at me with fangs bared, I sidestepped it and kicked it away, hoping to scare it off. It was not deterred and lunged again, again avoided its attack and blasted sparks of lightning in its direction. It slowly retreated with a whimper and the smaller wolf left with it, head bowed and tail between its legs. *** "Not Possible!" Alvor cried out, "Hadvar told me the same story and I thought he was crazy!" "I can hardly believe it myself Alvor, it saved my…our lives but killed many others." I explained. "We will get you bathed and clothed and talk about it over dinner." He said with a sense of disbelief and disregard We all sat there, an eerie silence coming over us as the tale was told, the beast had landed on the tower JUST as I was about to be executed and shouted a fiery death over the town. Hadvar guided me through the keep and out of a secret exit where we fought Stormcloaks, giant spiders and a cave bear. We had gone through hardly unscathed while many died where we should've . Life was an unexplainable thing and Alvor asked just one thing of me, to go to the main trading hub of Whiterun, and alert the Jarl of the danger that the dragon posed and still poses. I stayed there for a few more nights, working for Hod at the mill and helping Alvor with his forge. After I had got my strength back I made the short journey towards Whiterun when I came across three Imperial soldiers accompanying a young man in rags. As I approached on of the soldiers he told me to back off and roughly shoved me out of the way. "What is this about?" I replied, trying to ignore his anger. "Imperial business, I suggest you back off before I hurt you." He replied, pulling his gleaming sword out of its sheath. I countered him, my hands dancing with flames. He striked without warning, tearing my newly sown clothes and cutting through my shoulder. I cried out in pain as I edged back and blasted the attacker with flames. He screamed as his skin was cooked and he sunk to the ground, dead. The two soldiers looked at me and the young prisoner ran for his life as they chased him, ignoring me and their dead friend. I laughed at their bone-headedness as the young Nord escaped from them. They suddenly stoppes and turned, advancing on me with bows drawn. As they came closer I raised my hands and they lowered their bows. "You have committed crimes against Skyrim and her people, what say you in your defence?" "I'd rather die then go to jail!" I blasted the soldiers with the magical fire, incinerating their bodies and freeing the runaway Stormcloak. I heard sounds in the distance, what sounded like an earthquake. The very ground was shakig underneath my feet and as I ran closer I saw it, its rags hanging loosely around its giant waist, arms and legs the size of tree trunks, swinging its massive crude club in the direction of three warriors. I quickly pulled out my bow and started firing arrows at it, my quiver getting smaller and smaller. I ran out of arrows and lunged at the giant with a battle cry, swinging as fast as I possibly could I continuously bashed my bow into its leg. It cried out in pain as it fell to its knees; I picked up an arrow off the ground an jumped on its back, driving the arrow through the back of the monster's skull. I dropped off the giant and a young Nord woman, covered in war paint, came up to me. "You fight well, we killed that giant thanks to you." "I did what I could." I smoothly replied "You should think about joining the Companions and become a shield brother, my friend." she exclaimed, "If you decide you want to give it a try, head to Jorrvaskr and talk to Kodlak Grey-Mane." and just like that they were gone, running in the direction of Whiterun. As I arrived to the gates of Whiterun I pondered joining the Companions but I was not a fighter, I am a magic-user and prefer not to use weaponry and as I advanced on to the gates a Whiterun guard stopped me in my tracks. "Halt, Whiterun is closed because of a recent dragon attack." "I have come with news for Riverwood." I replied, confident he would let me in. "Okay, but be careful, I will be keeping an eye on you." he warned, making sure I wouldn't get into or cause any trouble. I arrived in Whiterun, hungry and tired from the day's events and I headed towards the the city's inn, The Bannered Mare in order to feast and get a good night's rest.
