Another Character Back story: Dante Malphazar Black

  •          My tale May be a twisted, but after all it is the tale of a Dovahkinn! I was born in Anvil a costal port city in Cyrodiil in the 4th era. My father was an Imperial along with my mother. My family inherited a house on the left side of Anvil that had been passed from generation to generation sense my great great great grandfather bought it. It was even rumored to have been haunted by a lich which he himself killed. Doubtful, but nonetheless a rumor spaning some time.

In my early years I learned to read and write in the chapel near my home. After finishing my studys at the chapel I would return home were my father would try and teach my the ways of business in the black smith trade, but not making much progress for he was of only average intelligence and rarely mad an logical sense. After I had mastered reading, writing, and the business end of my father's chain of smithies I went on to learn sword play, living off the land, the history of Tamriel, finding my way through the wilderness with the use of stars. I had learned all I needed to, to take on Nirn's populace and wilderness if need be. But, as you never stop learning I had yet another thing to learn and it happened to be when I accompanied my father to the city of Kvatch where he had to deliver raw materials to one of his smithies. But as we neared Kvatch my father told me to ride ahead to let them know the materials were near, and they would need to stop there work to unload the cart. It had only been a few minutes when I caught sight of something out of the corner of my eye fly from the woods and strike my horse! Within a blink of a eye my horse crashed to the ground throwing me feet away from it, and feet away from my sword. What seemed like a Bosmer came flying out of the forest holding a short sword charging straight at me. I had only a few moments before he would be in swinging distance! I tried to sit up, but it was to late I raised my hand in a hopeless defense and turned away not to see the blade strike me! It then came to me like a vision a candle that had just been let, but already diming about to die out. Then just then a rush of air and the wick almost seemed to explode with fire!

I awoke in a bed that was not my own, and after taking in my surroundings I knew where I was. The banners on the wall were the mages guild symbol I couldn't remember why I was even here or how I ended up in this bed. After a few moments of being awake the door opened to a very tall Altemer brandishing mage guild robes. "Hello Dante my name is Belian How are you feeling?" he asked with a small grin.

I replied "Well, I suppose how did I get here?"

Belian chuckled "You were attacked by a bandit, and  fell unconscious. Tell me Dante do you have any memory of what happened?"

I tried to remember what had taken place, but to no avail "I am sorry, but I can only remember riding to Kvatch with my father."

"Well Dante the reason you happen to be in the mage guild hall of Kvatch is because the bandit that attacked you was killed by what seemed to be a fireball spell at close range. You being the only person around leads us to believe you have the power to call upon the arcane!" With his grin growing slightly larger.

All of the sudden I could remember everything like a flood that broke lose pouring memory's into my mind! I looked down at my hands, and all I could think was how could I have done that all I did was turn away in fear. I didn't call upon any powers! Again there it was the fear that I felt before when I was helpless to save myself. I closed my eyes and then my palms felt like they were set on fire! Belian felt a sudden surge of arcane power his eyes snapped to my hands which were holding a sphere of fire! At that very moment he cast a spell to shield himself, and explosion went off from where I was sitting! Engulfing the room where Belian and I were talking. Belian was thrown against a wall a few feet behind him while other mages rushed up stairs to calm the fire that was blazing all around me.

I was sitting out side where my incompetent alteration teacher usually gave his class lectures at the Arcane University I could hear the other apprentices cheering. It was finally graduation day it had been a long rode sense the day I almost burned down the Kvatch guild hall. I could almost taste the freedom that came with becoming a mage the greatest being able to devote my time were I always wanted to the art of Necromancy. I was tired of sneaking around finding scrapes of paper that cast light on the one thing I wanted to learn most, but knew nothing about. I already had the site where I would start my research into the black arts a small cave near Bruma called Muk Valley cavern. I happened to stumble upon it when looking for herbs for my alchemy class. Stepping inside I was all to excited to see the potential of this cave, and it happened to be placed perfectly. Far enough off the rode no one would come snooping around to run in my experiments, but close enough I could access the way to Bruma for supplies. It was also large enough for my research to wander around and the smell of death could dissipate.

Everything had been put into place my Alchemy lab set up, a pit dug for my failed experiments, plenty of parchment to write my notes, all the books I could acquire on Necromancy like the Tome of Unlife, The Black Arts On Trial, The Path of Transcendence, N'gasta! Kvata! Kvakis, and Mannimarco, King of Worms. All to help fuel my knowledge of raising the dead and keeping them that way which proved harder than anticipated. One failed experiment after another with the bodies I had to dig up from there resting places I decided that it was time to try it with fresh ones. This was a bit easier than digging up bodies when I could just kill them on there way to, or from Bruma and levitate them back to cave to continue my work. My experiments to animate the dead were much more successful now that they still had some life in them. It only took two or three weeks to get half a dozen fully animated zombies to protect my home while I was away at Bruma.

But, one day in Bruma's tavern having some ale from the tiring months in Muk Valley cave, I over heard a guard talking to the bartender about the people missing along the Silver and Red Ring roads that I had to acquire for my experiments he went on to say "There is quite a reward for finding what is responsible for the disappearance of those people." The Bartender asked "I have been hearing about this for awhile now is there nothing pointing to what has happened to them?" The Guard replies  "Well we had a witness come to us saying that a mage was behind it killing people and taking them into the woods HA HA may Talos help him! But, nonetheless there are those crazed mercenary's looking for Vampires and Necromancers in the surrounding caves. It's all just paranoia to me i'm going to let them handle it." I was jolted to have been seen and not even know it I am better than that! I was sure that every time I killed there weren't any witnesses to what I had done I was sure of it! HOW could I have been so stupid! I had to make it back to the cave to secure my notes, and make sure nothing could be traced to me. I calmly took the last of my ale with one gulp and dropped three septims on the table and thanked the bar keep. I hurried to the stable outside of Bruma saddled my paint and rode toward Muk Valley cavern hoping to reach it before anyone else had! I forced my horse to gallop as fast as it could after getting clear of Bruma's watch towers. I arrived at the cavern with my creations still in tact and nothing disturbed. I hurried to gather all my notes and put my creations to sleep while burning any evidence that I was there. I had destroyed everything I had come to love, to put pride in for the fear I could be caught it was sad I was that same child that was afraid so many years ago. I took one last look at the home I came to love and headed for the door. As I reached it, it was kicked in I could only shut my eyes before it hit me in the face. My notes flying everywhere. I looked up from the ground at an orc that kicked in the door with a dunmer at his side holding an arrow at the ready pointed at me he yelled "Keep still and you wont have to die!" As I laid on the grown a voice came across the rest a nord woman "Get out of my way I want to see this mage for myself you fools!" She seemed to be the leader barking out an order "Tuk put him in the cart Vincent tie his hands together and cover his face we don't want him getting lose." Before I knew it I was in a cell at Bruma castle waiting with my hands still bound with some sort of magical restraint that deemed me powerless.

I was found guilty of dabbling in the black arts, and the murder's of more than a dozen people. I was sentenced to be executed in Skyrim for Cyrodiil would not carry out the sentence I was to high of a risk for these weak beings!
