The Journal of Babette Thorne Unbound part 1

  • The guards did not forget about me as I feared. Late last nite, just after I layed my head down my cell door creaked open.   Two guards stepped into my dimly lit cell and  stood over me.

"It is time."  the guard spoke with a thick  accent (Nord?). I pulled away, his cold metal gauntlet reaching out for me.  He came closer, grabbing my arm. I  tried to pull free but his grip was was strong. "Come now, you are only making things worse."  He said as he pulled me to my feet. Once more I tried to free myself but his grip only tightened like a bear trap. Finally, I shot a weak pillar of flames from my free hand, setting his foot a flame.   Instantly he released  his grip, allowing me to run to the door.
"You filthy mage!" the second guard shouted, slamming the handle of his sword into my stomach. Imediately I fell, holdng my stomach my breath knocked out of me...

I awoke to the sound of horse hooves trotting over cobelstone. The frigid air burned my lungs as I forced myself into a seated position. Slowly my groggyness subsided and I realised I was on a prison cart with three other men All of us bound at the wrist, and one man with a scarf muzzling his mouth.. My chest ached with each breath, I silently cursed the guard responsible for my pain. The two  prisoners beside  me were discussing the war and an  Imperial run town named Helgen.....
