Fawn's Journal; Entry #2

  • I’m writing in this journal more frequently than I expected. I guess that helps with getting today’s events off my chest and not having to remember days back. It has only been a day since my last entry so this might be a short one.

I have to admit… I had forgotten how much I have missed social comfort. It is great talking to people, walking around town without a care in the world… until nightfall.

I started off talking with the barkeeper, Orgnar, at breakfast (a lovely fish soup). Grumpy and uninterested sort of guy but was happy to let me use his alchemy table. He also gave me a bounty note from the Jarl of Whiterun.

--Which reminds me… I found out that Skyrim is divided into multiple provinces called Holds. And each Hold has a leader called a Jarl, and that Jarl governs as he pleases.--

I thanked him, made some health potions as well as some frenzy poisons. And went on my way seeing if there were more curiosities in the town. And by the Gods there were many!

There is a love triangle with Camilla valerius and a Bosmer and a Nord, so cute! The nord, Sven’s mother is crabby and declared completely mad because she saw a dragon. I tried to convince her son that I had seen the dragon too and it had destroyed Helgen. That set him off… he urged me to get to Whiterun City and inform the Jarl himself that Riverwood needed reinforcements. A visit to the Jarl! What an excitement! I’d better clear the bounty to seem even more respectable… yes that I still on my to do list.

There are also two little kids running around, a boy trying to dress his dog, Stump, as a frostbite spider for a gag. How I’d love to see that! But the little girl doesn’t see it working.

When entering the Riverwood Traders to get some camping supplies (I am leaving this town shortly). I found Camilla and her brother, the shopkeeper, arguing about a robbery and thief chasing. I offered my help and after buying the supplies I was guided to where the thieves were hiding. It was Bleakfalls Barrow, the plateau I had decided to leave behind me. I decided that would be my first job in Skyrim. Retrieve the Golden Claw, which I have done. And what an adventure it was!

The first half of the barrow was ridden with bandits. Easy to dispatch. I’m a huntress and bandits are slower and much less alert than deer, not a problem. By the time one had realized his ally had fallen, he was dead too.

Surprisingly the first pair: one of them had a bear fur cloak which seemed enchanted. I lack the knowledge to know what with. But it definitely didn’t seem detrimental. As well as in the locked chest next to them was a quiver with explosive arrows! I tested them out on the next bandit I met who seemed to be a tad tougher looking. Though a fiery explosion in his back dealt with him. I only had four left so I kept them for more important use.

Later on I found the largest, ugliest, scariest frostbite spider I have ever seen. I swear! It was twice the size of a bear!

Wow… I am talking to a journal as if it is a person. I really need some more human or elven contact.

Behind the spider was a dark elf trapped in a web squirming and screaming for me to kill the bloody thing. I thought with pleasure. It was too big to get through the entrance to the room so I stood close enough for it to be tempting but far enough to avoid its… talons? Pincers? Nevermind…

Shooting its eyes out one by one (quite a game). The spider finally died and I cut the dunmer loose who promised me the claw. The cunt ran for his life screaming the treasure would be his. And all I wanted was that damned claw!

In my fit of annoyance all my shots to sever his legs missed. Luckily some undead got him, serves him damn right. Yes I had to kill them, send em back to slumber. Was doing that for the rest of the trip through the barrow as temptation had gotten the better of me. He had mentioned treasure.

He had a journal and it described that the golden claw was a key to an odd door with three rings and that the claw held the code. I examined it closer and saw three symbols, these luckily turned out to be the code to the huge door he had described. Through that door was the largest natural cavern inside a mountain I had seen.

Yes I haven’t seen much, but Cyrodiil is quite dull compared to this rugged and varied world I have found myself stuck in.

At the end was a huge wall with odd carvings. One of the carvings drew me in. It is now branded at the back of my mind, FUS, it would be written in the common tongue. At that moment another undead stepped out of his coffin. Dang thing took all my explosive arrows as if they were sweetrolls. But too much of anything isn’t good for you and the last one killed him. And bless my luck but a chest ha more of them.

Outside it was nighttime but, luckily, clouds hid the moons so I got back to Riverwood as fast as I could and returned the claw and received the promise of the payment for his last shipment! Four hundred septims!

Tomorrow I will go to Valtheim Towers to route out the bandits and then go off to Whiterun City. For now I am going to try and see if sleep will welcome me for once.

I hope you enjoyed, comments would be appreciated.

Map markers, they are more realistic than people say (not the ones dangling above a person's head)

Ah ok, either way it was a good read. I look forward to more of Retribution though.

No it isn't. It's a roleplay journal. As in, I roleplay skyrim, then write down the events in her mindset. Retribution is a fan fic. I could link it, but that would be quite a hassle, because Retri is already linked with Lightpire's story as well as anoth...  more

Another good read, one question though...
Is this linked with the other story you've been posting?
