Prelude (Part 4) – Conclusion.

  • Conclusion.

With no idea where I was, I kept wandering the wilds. I made myself a bow and arrows from using a sharp flat stone, to carve some wood. Wondering for days, with the only life being the wild animals and trees around me, I reverted back to my hunting experience. After a week of following along-side a river I found a small village with a lumber mill. I did not go into the village at all for fear of running into those robed men again. All I did was observe, from a distance the coming and goings of the people in the village. There was a Bosmer who hunted as well; I had to stay very far from him lest I be discovered. There was a Man with a beard that worked a forge all day, and another bearded man working the mill. There were other villagers as well, going on with their day to day lives. And eventually I decided I will approach this village after carefully making sure no robed men lived there. It was the morning of my approach that we find ourselves now. With a dragon on the loose.

Chapter 1 - No more innocence.

The dragon turned in a long drawn out arch.  I could hear the heavy sound of leathery wings pushing hard in the air. It roared again, loudly. And I'm not entirely sure but with that roar I could swear I heard words.  No, maybe I was mistaken. I giggled softly at myself. I must be in shock or something. Regardless, I suddenly get pulled back to reality when I see the dragon is almost above my encampment.  But it does not stop.  Instead it proceeds onwards in to the distance.  Then I realize it is heading towards that little village I was about to approach.

I had to do something, right? Those people were in danger and from what I can tell, I'm the only one that knows of the danger they were in.  I grab my backpack made from bear fur.  What a tale that was in itself, but I'll save that for another time.  I start running towards the path not too far from my tent and proceed down along its winding road. Plants and fauna with all kinds of colors sat next to the path, inviting bees and butterflies to come rest on them.  Nature itself slowly started coming alive again as I could once more hear the songs of birds in the trees.  I even saw a fox chase a rabbit into the long grass up ahead.  Wow, you'd never say there was a bringer of the end times wrecking havoc just a few minutes ago.

Without realizing it, I have run right into the little village and up to the big bearded man by the forge. He suddenly swings his gaze from the sky towards me. His eyes an expression of worry and puzzle. He's face was weathered and dirty from the forge and the heat, but underneath the grime I could see a gentle man, maybe even a father. He wore a red shirt with rolled up sleeves underneath the thick leather of his smithing apron.  I'm gasping to catch my breath standing there with my hands on my knees. "Yes?", he asks in a low, yet gentle voice.  "Can I help you?", he continued.  He seemed very relaxed for someone that has just been startled by a complete stranger.  I catch my breath an utter stupidly: "Dragon!".  He's eyes widen ever so slightly and then he relaxes his frown. "Really now young lady, being out in the woods for so long has finally messed with your senses.", he said half grinning at me. "What?", is as best as I can come up with.  "What you talking about?", I ask puzzled.

@Polynike - Yeah, frost fall and Basic needs mods.
@Bilal - Sorry for the confusion, the flashback falls part of the prologue.  The more vibrant colors was added after in photoshop.  Sadly my PC can't handle the nicer ENB mods :\

Frostfall installed? If so good choice but be prepared when roaming in the cold!
