Race relations in Skyrim

  • So, this is kind of more appropriate for the answers section, but I figured it might get more attention on here and could turn into a good discussion.

I am thinking about playing a Khajiit as my first character in Skyrim and it got me to thinking about race relations in Skyrim/Tamriel. Anyone know much about this? I don't really remember much about it from the other games. I remember hearing that it will definitely be a thing in Skyrim but beyond that I don't know much about actual specifics.

So, how about a discussion about race relations in Skyrim?

Fabulously in depth Ssarrasum, much thanks:) I wonder how this will play out in Skyrim.  The only real acknowledgement of your race I can remember from Oblivion was a few lines that the NPCs would say depending on what race you were.

    "Beast" Races
Khajit don't like Dunmer, but who could like a race that thinks of you as slave fodder.  They don't appear to have any strong likes or dislikes for the other races.  They are on of only two playable races that can only produce offsprin...  more

Altmer = elven snobs w/ magical prowess

Bosmer = elves of the woods, incredible archers + assassins

Imperials = humans with human flaws, e.g. all of them think imperials should rule

Dunmer= cursed elves, blame everyo...  more

The worst it would get is that you have to persuade certain people to like you for information lower prices and ect. But we all did that enough in Oblivion that its not a big deal.

Altmers are more of the know it all's since they started the Mages Guild. They think they are better than everyone else also but can't back it up in hand to hand combat.

If you pick a race, like an orc, will some people of other races act a certain way towards you, like sell thinks at a higher price based on their bias?

Cool, I actually do remember that stuff now that you mention it. Anyone hear any more details about how it might effect gameplay in Skyrim? I know I heard Todd say it will be acknowledged by NPCs but won't have a huge effect, they don't want to limit you ...  more

Khajiits and Argonians were put into slavery and what not Dark elfs are not liked by pretty much anyone because of their attitudes and they say orcs are dumb and barbarians.

I know Nords don't really like Dunmer and Orcs.  Speaking of Dunmer, no one really likes Dunmer period.  Also, Altmer don't really like other races either.
