    Day #2

The time is 7:13 when I awake. My head feels like a there was a minor mammoth stampede across it. After splashing my face in cold water I gear up and leave the Sleeping Giant Inn behind me. Somehwere I man named Embry will be telling the tale of Vormund the Hammer, the Vampire Slayer... the one who is deathly afraid of Vampires.

With this thought I try to put as much distance between me and the lovely little village of Riverwood. I travel north along a well used highway. Signs point me in the direction of Whiterun a large Nordic city in the center of Skyrim. Hopefuly I talk to some people there who have heard of any Vampire activity to investigate.

Vormund's trip to Whiterun goes mostly without event except when he runs into a large pack of wolves. After running to a more "advangteous" position in which to deal with the onslaught I began to commence the work of death upon the poor wolves. Ok so it was only one wolf. He was viscious though.

My arrival at Whiterun is slightly more intersting than what I expected. For some reason the game glitched and spawned a ton of Stormcloaks around the gate. Unsure of what to do I skirt the small scale battle and sneak through the gate unnoticed by the soldiers.

Whiterun is a much more vibrant place. There are people walking to and fro. Hopefuly one of them can tell me of suspicious activity. Eagerly I begin walking the streets talking to every single passerby.

Most everyone had some job they wanted me to do but nothing that sounded interesting. I was told to join a guild called the companions. Amren told me I should try mercenary work. The Battle-born family tried recruiting me against the gray-mane family. The guards primarily grumbled about this and that.

One guard informed me he used to be an adventurer like me. That is until he took an arrow in the knee. I felt some slight sympathy toward the Nord. An arrow in the knee certainly sounded painful. Well I felt pity until he walked away with absoluetly no hint of a limp.

Some girl with a crazy name Yodle Yolda? No Ysolda! She wanted a mammoth's tusk. I smiled politely at this request thinking it a jest. She was serious though! How in the name of Skyrim was I supposed to take a 12 ib mass of muscle and anger and harvest its tusk. Not to mention they are generally guarded by twelve foot giants with clubs.

This was getting me no where fast. In frustration I climbed the steps to the palace and chatted with the Jarl for awhile. Nice fellow however he was convinced that there was a Dragon near Helgen. I tried reassuring him that I had seen none in my travels from that direction. I decided I had better get back to my search since he had nothing interesting to say.

Back in the Market district I begin talking to everyone I met again. Again nothing of interest comes up. Finally only one person remains to talk to. By this time I am so frustrated I just approach the lady and say in a rather harsh tone, "Have you heard any rumors lately?"

She then begins to go off about some guy named Mikael who has an interest in her but how she doesnt want this guy to keep talking about her. She says he is a nice guy and all but just a friend and she doesnt want things to get awkward...

Clenching my fists I simply declare, "Very well I will go talk to him."

She looks at me shocked, "Would you really? I doubt anything will get through his thick head but you can try." Then she walks off to continue her absent minded cleaning.

Looking directly behind me I see The Bannered Mare Inn where this Mikael works as a bard. Vormund the Hammer reduced to dealing with relationship problems. At least I was about to let some steam out in proper Nord fashion. Beating the living crap out of someone.

I stalk up the steps to the Inn and shove through the double doors. I see the man immediately. He is tall and skinny with shockingly blonde hair he is playing the lute quite skillfuly. Without any ceremony whatsoever I walk up to the guy and command him to leave Carlotta alone. He snickers at me (bad choice considering my current mood), "You can't tell me wha-"

He is cut off suddenly as I throw a wicked punch straight into his nose. He gets back to his feet and throws a punch. Ducking under it I pull my fist up into his gut. He doubles over on the floor choking. No one seems to mind that I just beat up the Bard.

Well one girl takes note of me Uthgar the Unbroken. She calls to me from the corner. I walk over a little cautiously. "Yes?"

She has a frown on her face, "You think you can take me? You wouldn't last a minute against me. I would wager you 100 gold you couldn't."

With a frown I look her up and down. She is clad in steel armor and looks like she has seen plenty of fighting in her day. However she is overconfident and has challanged Vormund on a bad day.

    "100 gold it is."

She suddenly leaps from her seat and throws and iron gauntleted fist at my face. I am able to pull away but her next punch catches me in the shoulder. A little taken aback by her ferocity I admit I was slow to get going. My mom always taught me never to hit a woman. I think I am going to make an exception for this one.

I admit my form wasn't beautiful but I flung my fists at her with all my Nordic strength and feel the blindingly painful feeling of knuckles crashing inot steel plate.  She draws back her fist for a big hit. I push straight into her and fall to the floor and smash my face against hers. It wasn't pretty but it got the job done.

Getting up she hands me a bag of coins then congratulated me promising she would help me if I ever needed a second blade. It sounded nice to have a traveling companion but this woman honestly scares me more than the thought of being surounded by Vampires at night in a dark forest.

I drag my sorry bruised hide over to sit down at the bar. A young lady asks me what I want. I see a freshly baked apple pie. It looks delightful after such a long day of getting nothing accomplished. Its kind of a pick you up food.

So I hand her thirty gold coins and she gives me the entire pie. I eat the whole thing in a matter of a few minutes. After eating I go and sit by a a man named Sinmir who appears to be the most Nordic, Nord that I have ever seen. He complains about the security in Whiterun for a little while. I listen to his stories and simply stare mornfuly at the fire.

I wish I was him. Brave and courageous... covered in thick armor. Large two handed axe at the ready... and that beard. I am very jealous. Maybe it would be good for my self esteem to get some armor.

Surprinsingly Mikael the Bard is up and playing the Lute again singing about Ragnar the Red. Carlotta picks this chance to walk in and come talk to me. She is overjoyed at my success and gives me two hundred fifty gold.  Guess it wasn't such a wasteful day after all.

I buy a room upstairs and plop down on the bed exhuasted. I decide tomorrow I will travel to Riften. Its a long journey east and then south. The road is dangerous and long but I am ready to prove myself in the land of Skyrim.

Well, best of luck to you DL in your first year of college!  And no worries...the comedic hero is a great perspective to tell a story from, and you have made a positive start with  both entries!

I have no comments about 1st or 3rd but I like the entry. You are clearly keeping yourself inside his head at all times and that makes for entertainment in my opinion.

Also to clarify I would like to tell this from first person. Because I have never written anything in first person before and it makes good practice. I guess my mind just switches back to third person sometimes.

You have a nice sense of humor throughout, DL.  I did get a little confused by the perspective at one point.  Are you writing it from the perspective of Vormund completely?  I think you mentioned something about the game glitching and throwing Stormcloaks...  more
