Ramiel stories 2: Slashes and flashes

  • While me and Harvar were walking, he started making use of the time and explained the situation in this province they call Skyrim. Discussion included everything from what that gagged man back in the carriage had done to the civil war in the land and economy. What a mess I have been shoved into... This can't end well.

While Hadvar started to explain something about his uncle, I started observing my surroundings. Such a beautiful place. Birds singing in the trees, the sunshine lighting the trees... such serenity. Even I started to feel peaceful. Thinking like that reminded me of my past. I couldn't remember anything solid from my old life. Except my name, my skills and killing.. Well that's a positive skill set, I'll fit right in... I  guess I'll have more time to explore myself once we get Riverwood.

"So, what's the story behind your capture?" Hadvar asks. I 'm not paying attention. I'm too busy watching a nearby fox jogging on the road. "Alright, I get it. But I'm here if you want to talk." Hadvar says and kills fox I've been looking at with a bow. "That's what you do with a fox. Here, you'll get a good price on the pelt at Riverwood." Hadvar says. I nod and start to think that there may be more to my captor and friend than meets the eye.

On our way to Riverwood, we come across large stones Hadvar calls "Guardian Stones".

I can feel them... radiating. Something familar. Something soothing. I get three different feelings; bashful bravery, dangerous knowledge and a retreating, analyzing power. They seduce me, call out to me... They are all strong, but one pulls me to it relentlessly, the one vibranting the feeling of bravery. I try to resist. "Let it go Ramiel! Let it go!" Hadvar yells to me. I can barely hear him. I'm almost at the stone. My hands raise towards the stone regardless of my resistance. My hands touch the stone and a small force wave sets of from the stone, almost ripping the few trees around the stones from the ground. Strangely enough, I don't feel a thing. Hadvar gets knocked on the ground by the force however. "Wow, I haven't even heard of such a strong reaction with the Guardian Stones. All everyone usually gets is a funny feeling or a light breeze at most." Hadvar says. "Yea, well it must be my lucky day" I reply.

Hadvar and me continue walking towards Riverwood and he explains the Guardian Stones in more details. Turns out the stone I touched is called the Warrior Stone. I don't really get a chance to think about it more because suddenly me and Hadvar are being ambushed by three wolves and a sabercat. Hadvar, equipped with a shield charges ahead to get their attention while I fire off as many arrows as I can before I get pulled into a fierce melee fight with a old, obviously experienced wolf. The wolf observes me from a distance, calculating.

Then it attacks. I get knocked down when the wolf goes for my legs. I get a small cut on the wolf with my sword. Then the wolf is on me already, growling and trying to bite. The struggle ends quickly when the wolf goes for my throat but fails to see my sword pointing at his belly. I shove the carcas aside and quickly the the other wolf harassing Hadvar from behind. Hadvar has done a valiant job keeping the beasts back but I can see my friends strength starting to fade. I move to attack the other wolf, slashing and cutting.

I get a few scratches but manage to finish off the last wolf. The saber cat is pounding Hadvar shield and my friend is clearly in trouble. I quickly move into position behind the beast..

and thrust my sword through it's back. The cat growls and blood starts pouring out of its mouth on Hadvar and his shield. "I'm glad you came with me" Hadvar says and walks over to the river to clean up his sword and shield. "Yea, me too..." I say and wonder if it's going to be like this always with Hadvar. I try to do a quick job getting anything useful out of the beasts and head towards the river to clean myself up as well.

My reflection.. I didn't even remember I look like this. What is that? Is that a hand impression on my face? It's very pale but I can see it.

I try to make out the lines of the impression and I suddenly get a flash, I can't see anything but I can hear..

"And you see Ramiel, that's why I'm sending you."

    - "Yes, I understand."

"And you know what to do once you get there?"

    - "Yes, Father."

What was that? "Ramiel, you coming? We're almost to Riverwood" Hadvar yells. "Yea, I'll be right with you Hadvar!" I yell back. There is definitely more to know from my past..

    Hey Kynareth,
I appreciate the feedback :) The thing is, even though I've only done two parts, it has made my gaming so much more immersive that I will keep doing it even if no one reads the stories :) Of course, I'm happy that other get something o...  more

Great engaging style, Niko...I like the ending note about his past, involving his father and this odd handprint...very intriguing!
