The Legend of Hellion: II Making an Alliance for Life

  • He read through the book. It spoke only of the daedra's powers, temple locations, and what he was known for. But the final sixteen pages had been torn out. He went to the librarian about it. " All of them are missing those pages. I tore them out for a good reason. Here, this is them." The librarian handed the pages over and Hellion read them carefully. They spoke of Mehrunes Dagon having summoned armies of dremora, that did nothing but fought, gave no damage, and took none either. They just clashed swords. They were called dremora sentinels. Their purpose was to get the attention of people. Well they got the attention of Whiterun. Jarl Galdor requested a good warrior, and a traveler who knew the lands of Skyrim well, to figure out the cause of this. Hellion was the best of both at the time, so said the jarls son, Balgruuf. When Hellion had entered, Balgruuf asked him " Are you gonna help my father kill the demons?" Hellion ruffled his hair and told him, in a kind fatherly voice, " Beat it buddy, i'll tell you about the trek when i return." With a smile and a hug, Balgruuf left. The jarl will be pleased with his results, so he decided to head off. This time, he caught the wagon before it left. As he paid the twenty gold for the trip, he hopped on the wagon and sat next to a wood elf. The elf looked at him, and said " Pleased to meet you sir. Harken." And extended his hand. Hellion, being respectful, took it, and firmly shook it. " Hellion. And where might you be headed today friend?" He said. " Whiterun. I am on an errand for a friend there and must return as soon as i can. What of you, Hellion? Where are you headed?" The elf prodded. Hellion gave him the response necessary. The elf thought for a moment, the wagon jerked, an rolled off, going down the trail to Whiterun. " Well i will aid you if i can, my good ally. After all, there are always bandit raids down this way. In fact, a wagon full of secret supplies for the Thalmor Embassy was recently attacked and looted." Hellion remembered the stone slab and grunted. He asked if Harken knew about it. The elf studied the tablet and recognized the language as Dovah, the language of the dragon. " You got this from a forgotten crate of that raid? Interesting. I know some of the language. I can translate most of it for you if you'd like." Hellion thanked him for the offer. They both worked on the translations for the whole trip. Sleeping and eating along the way. It was all a copy of the alphabet, and then a letter to one known as Miraak. They both knew nothing of this man. They decided they both needed to travel together. At least until Whiterun. When they got to Morthal, taking the long way around the mountains, they were attacked by a group of necromancers, led by a warlock. They killed the driver and told Hellion and Harken to exit the wagon and give them all their goods. " I highly doubt we will give you anything less than your hides if we step out." Harken said, ready for a quick fight. Hellion simply stood, pulled out his sword, and brought it heavily down atop one of the necromancers heads. The man split completely in half, blood spraying all the ways down. All the others started their spells, but not before Harken drew his glass daggers and jumped out of the wagon, slitting two of their throats. The warlock lifted his arm up, readying a spell of fire. He blasted a small flaming ball directly at Harken, but hellion caught it with his blade, as he slashed the heads off of the other necromancers. The flame hit the blade, exploding fire in a small ring. Hellion turned about quickly, bringing the sword above his head. The blade blocked out the sunlight over the warlocks head, which ignited a flame around it. He brought the sword down on the warlock. The warlock was undead, for when the blade hit him, he exploded into ash. Harken stood, amazed and in awe. He gathered his wits, and spoke " How in all the divines names, did you do that?" Hellion sheathed Eclipse, putting out the flames. " It is a sword given to me by my father. He forged it using a sun crystal shard, from which he received from Talos. It turns all undead, dremora, lesser vampire, and skeletons into ash on contact, or after a slice through the heart." Harken clapped his hand, " Bravo, bravo. I couldn't have done better. But out wagon driver is dead, and we are only outside of Morthal. What shall we do?" Hellion jumped in the drivers seat, helping Harken up with him. " We drive." He said with a devious smile. He whipped the reigns, causing the horses to start off. They went at a faster pace than usual. They were going to get to Whiterun within two days at the least. They decided to stay as a team throughout the rest of their journeys. They obviously needed one another. Hellion for Harkens lack of strength and direction, and Harken for Hellions lack of intelligence and speed. They would need a lot more allies for what was to come in the future. For in the distance, they saw a large, dark bird like shape flying in circles over a small camp. They knew what it was. A dragon. A giant flying lizard that breathed fire hotter than any forge. Claws and teeth sharper than any blade. And the thu'um of a powerful demon. It would show no mercy. Just death, destruction, and fire.

Another good chapter and I love the sword nice touch. Again my only advice would be to break up the prose with paragraphs. Its much easier on the eye. Interested to see where this goes.

The drgons arrived well before Balgruuf. As they say in the game, they were alive when King Olaf One Eye captured and imprisoned Numinex in Dragonsreach. That was in the first era. This story is based before Balgruuf and the skyrim game main quest. It goe...  more

This is a cool and realitic story, although the dragons only came when Baalgruff was Jarl. Also, how did he get the amazing shard from Talos? Divines don't directly contact anyone, especially not to give a holy artifact and killing undead and daedra is mo...  more
