The Journal of an Argonian Thief Part 1 Chapter 2

  •      As I approached the border of Cyrodiil I grew very excited. I've never been out of Elsweyr (not including me being born in Black Marsh) so it was exciting. I was greeted by who I guessed was an Imperial man. He asked me what a child like me was doing wandering alone. I didn't need people knowing my problems so I said nothing and walked by him into Cyrodiil. He didn't come after me so I thought I was okay. I saw a blacksmith's shop and sold off some arrows so I could buy something decent to eat. I wanted to save the rabbit for when I was traveling so I left it in my pack. I went into the local inn and bought some cabbage soup. I sat down at a table with a man who asked me who I was. I told him without looking up from my soup my name was Rakhem. When he told me his name was Kiru-Kai I looked up and saw he was an Argonian like me.He also told me to call him Kiru. He asked me why I was alone at such a young age. I guessed I could trust him so I told him my story about the bandit raid, my foster parents dyeing, and how I was traveling to a place called Skyrim. "Skyrim eh, that deathly place will kill ya before you can say I'm in Skyrim". He asked what I intended to do in this Skyrim. I told him I had to meet with a man named Ja-ree and there he would take care of me. "I know that Ja-ree guy." Kiru said. "He stole my amulet of Arkay,he's part of a bandit clan that calls themselves "The Raiders".

I thought to myself "No this can't be happening to me". The thought of joining a group of bandits after what happened to my foster parents. He saw the look on my face and quickly apologized. I told him it was alright and he shouldn't apologize. He then took me by surprise by asking "I could take care of you until you get old enough to be traveling safely". I thought about me going into his family. "I could have another family", I thought to myself. I smiled at the thought and agreed. "Alright then", Kiru said, "My house is down the street on the left go there and say hello to my daughter Nakuma". "I will stay here and enjoy a drink before I go home",Kiru said. I quickly walked out after finishing my soup and ran to his house. When I got to his house I was greeted by who I guessed was Nakuma. She was a beautiful young Argonian girl. I stood there for what I guessed was a little less then a minute trying to comprehend her beauty. She giggled and told me to come in. I walked inside.

She asked me what my name was and I told her "Rakhem is my name, and I am here because your father welcomed me into your home until I became of an age that I could travel alone safely". She said back, "Okay my name is Nakuma wanna play?" she asked me. "Okay what game?" "I guess tag sounds fun". "Okay let's go". She hit my arm and said "Tag your it" before running out of the door. I ran out after her. I quickly caught up to her and tagged her. This went back and forth for about ten minuets before I heard what I guessed was Nakuma's mother's voice yelling out "Supper's ready Nakuma!" Nakuma said to follow her and she'll introduce me to her mother. When we got inside her mother said "Who's your friend Nakuma?" "He'll be staying with us until he becomes of age so he can travel safely to Skyrim his name's Rakhem", she giggled cutely when she finished saying that. I think my face got very red after that. The mother noticed me and said "How about we eat now", just as Kiru walked in. "What are we havin' for dinner love", he said sounding slightly drunk. "Just some carrot stew honey" Nakuma's mother said. She then realized she hadn't introduced herself to me yet. "My name's Kal-Lee you can call me Kal for short". I just said a feeble "Hi". We all sat down at the dinner table and ate a wonderful meal. When I was finished I said "I am tired from my journey and long day where can I sleep?" Kal said Nakuma could set up a bedroll in her room for me to sleep in. I think she got a little red too but then I realized it was because I was staring at her. She said she would get the bedroll set up right away. I followed her up to her room where she set the bedroll down where I lye down. After about half a minute of us looking at each other she said goodnight, turned out the light in her room and closed the door. I fell asleep and dreamed about Nakuma.

This is a very sweet entry, Arike, and this encounter could not have happened at a better time for Rahzem.  This family could be balm for his soul, and as this was unexpected, I really like it!
