The Dockworker: Author's Note

  • Before embarking on my Skyrim journey, as many have done before me, I will divulge the following details about my adventure.

First, I intend this to be very readable and approachable--low on the text, heavy on the screenshots, per my inspiration from Thingy Person's wonderful "Occupy Blackreach" thread at Dark Creations.

Second, I am running a number of mods to hopefully distinguish my Skyrim quest. Numerous graphics mods are running in the back, to make things more visually exciting (with a bent toward realism). Additionally, I employ various tweaks to combat and such, to make it more tactical and realistic. Some slight modifications have been made to the enemies I encounter, such as beasts providing more alchemy ingredients, different dragon types spawning, and so on. The most significant mod is certainly Arthmoor's excellent "Live Another Life" mod, which I have used to give myself a different experience than the vanilla start.

Third, and most importantly, I have disabled Fast Travel, my map, and the HUD. I have played a lot of Skyrim, so I'm not going in blind, but I will be operating on my knowledge of lore and quest guides to help me get from place to place. If it doesn't, then hopefully getting lost will prove even more exciting.

    Enjoy!
