The great news for Bethesda just keeps on coming, with Skyrim confounding the odds and topping the charts for all platforms in the UK.
This is the first year for eight years that a game from Activision or EA hasn't been the Christmas best-seller. And its the first year for four years that a game from the Call of Duty franchise hasn't been the chart topper!
It's interesting that all the game sites are registering great surprise at this news. Basically, everybody just assumed the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 would automatically be the Christmas best selling game. But that's not how it panned out. Here's the chart for those interested
1. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Bethesda)
2. Just Dance 3 (Ubisoft)
3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (Activision)
4. FIFA 12 (EA)
5. Saints Row: The Third (THQ)
6. Battlefield 3 (EA)
7. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations (Ubisoft)
8. Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (Sega)
9. Need for Speed: The Run (EA)
10. Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Call (Nintendo)
So, Call of Duty didn't even grab second place! Oh the humiliation of being beaten into second place by Just Dance 3 Perhaps they'll think about creating something fresh and new next time, rather than simply recycling the same old ideas with a bunch of new maps?
Anyway, I'm sure Todd and the guys at Bethesda will be enjoying their Christmas bonuses this year

Thanks for the figures, even though they weren't exactly what I was hoping for. I guess most American's prefer the mindless droning of FPS games. Can't say I'm surprised at the number of casual gamers playing Just Dance though.
great list

And it seems you are even more addicted to Just Dance than we are on this side of the pond
I would say Bethesda deserves this, but they have a bit more work to complete on patches
Once all of the platforms are stable then... more
