Our poll last week about how we plan to obtain Skyrim attracted a whopping 2516 votes, the highest number of votes that we have ever had on a poll!
By the way, that is another indicator that, despite the recent site move, we are still attracting large numbers of visitors. I couldn't tell you exactly how many hits this site gets these days, because the tracker that I installed had so many hits that I exceeded my quota within less than a day!
Anyway, back on topic, it seems that the bulks of you still like to go down to your local game store or supermarket to buy your games. Take a look at these results
What we see here is that two thirds of you are getting the game via a shop - and almost a quarter of you plan to be at a midnight release event. I've got to say I found that a staggeringly high figure! I hope you're not all just kidding about that.... it does seem a lot of people. Good luck to you guys, I'll be tucked up in bed at that time...
Another quarter of you plan to take advantage of the convenience of getting Amazon or somebody similar to deliver it right to your front door. That's what I'll be doing - although if Amazon UK screw up, then I'll be beetling off to the local Tesco, and sending my (late arriving) copy back to Amazon for a refund!
And what about the feeble 8% for Steam? If you on Bethesda forums (and I don't really recommend that you do) you would think that everyone in the Universe is buying all their games from Steam. Clearly thats not the case! I suspect our poll is a more accurate representation of the proportion of people taking advantage of Steam, even despite the fact that you can pre-load it, and activate it at exactly midnight on Friday.
So there you go. Shops still rule
