The Friday Roundup

  • Welcome to another Friday Roundup, as we collect together the news from this week on the site, and lay out the plans for Christmas and New Year on The Skyrim Blog

Elsweyr finds favour in massive poll

Last week we had another poll on which province you'd like to see utilised for The Elder Scrolls VI. More than 2200 people voted in this poll, one of the largest polls ever on this site. Here are the final results:

As we can see here, the two big winners were lands populated by beast races - and both would thereby pose significant challenged for Bethesda to implement properly. I don't think the challenges are insurmountable - but it remains to be seen whether they'd want to try and market a huge Elder Scrolls title based around lands largely inhabited by 'cat people' or 'lizard men'.

    Christmas and New Year slowdown

We are already starting to see a bit of a slowdown in visits and activity as we lurch headlong into the Christmas season. That's perfectly understandable and no particular cause for concern.

The good news is that the site will still be open all over the holidays. However, the front page won't be getting updated for the next couple of weeks - well, there'll be a Weekend Roundtable tomorrow, and maybe a poll sometime before the New Year - but otherwise, the front page won't be getting updated.

Still, I'll be checking in to make sure that new members get approved, the site is kept tidy and everything is working properly. But, like most people, I'll be tied up with family and other stuff over the next couple of weeks. Have a great Christmas and New Year everyone and look out for what we have planned for the next year!

    Christmas Chat Party

As promised last week, there'll be a Skyrim Blog Christmas Party - it will be in the Site Chat Room on Sunday from 8.00 pm to 10.00 pm (UK Time). If you need to adjust for another time zone, then simply compare your time zone to GMT in an online clock program.

Sorry if that's not a convenient time for you, but I'm tied up with pre-planned family activities both this evening and tomorrow evening, so Sunday was the only viable option. I hope a good number will be able to join us when the Chat Room appears right here on the front page of the site on Sunday evening!

    Deathmatch

This weeks Deathmatch has finished and the results can be found in the sidebar block. The Nightingale and Archmage Varius Valerion got over the line with more than 10 'likes' but the other two builds will feel the sharp edge of Mason's Axe...

Again, I wish all of our members and visitors a blessed and peaceful Christmas season. Look out for the new seasonal banner on the front page from Sunday - and join me in the Chat Room for some seasonal fun on Sunday evening!
