Redoran's Retreat, Joe's Dungeon Guide Part 3

   Dungeon: Redoran's Retreat

  

   Set-up:

  • Melee: Steel Battleaxe(Fine)
  • Magic School: Conjuration
  • Ranged: Ancient Nord Bow(Fine)
  • Armor: Iron Set with Steel Chest
  • Companion: Faendal (Hunting Bow, Steel Arrows, Ancient Nord Greatsword, Imperial Set with Iron Helm)

   First Thoughts:

  • This is one of the smallest dungeons in Skyrim, and if I remember correctly is only populated with four or five bandits and a dog.
  • I'm not sure, but I believe that Amren's father's sword is located in here. However, I took the Misc quest from the innkeeper so my guess is that the sword will be moved to another location once I accept that quest.   

    Note1: I will be including "Noteable Loot" such as skillbooks, treasure maps, and journals from now on. Sorry for not doing that in Bleak Falls Barrow.  

    Note2: I know this is a cave and not a dungeon, but it does have a "boss," chests, and you are required to zone into the location.

   Play-By-Play:

  • Standing outside of the cave I noticed that there isn't a guard (these will give you an idea of the location's difficulty)
  • I tried for a sneak attack on the dog, but missed and it alerted the bandit in the first room... no crosshair is tough.
  • The dog ran down and managed to pull a second bandit before all three were dispatched.
  • The Chief was easy enough, but when opening the chest I noticed the Bear Trap on the floor. (even though these will not kill you, there is a good chance of getting a disease).
  • Because of the size, difficulty, and fact that it is marked as a cave on the map it didn't trend.

   

   Chests/Bosses:

    Chest1:

  • Difficulty: Novice
  • Loot: Gold(66), Potion of Minor Magicka(2) Affected: No

    Boss-Room Chest/Final Chest:

  • First Loot: Gold(52), Scroll of Conjure Storm Atronach, Spell Tome: Sparks, Treasure Map IV(#4), Steel War Axe, Novice Robes of Alteration
  • After Boss Loot: Gold(52), Scroll of Conjure Storm Atronach, Spell Tome: Sparks, Treasure Map IV(#4), Steel War Axe, Novice Robes of Alteration
  • Affected: No, I only used conjuration while fighting the boss so that cannot factor into the loot.

    Boss Battle:

  • Boss: Bandit Chief
  • Weapon: Warhammer
  • Playstyle: Steel Greatsword and Conjured Familiar
  • Loot: Steel Warhammer, Gold(60), Iron Armor, Iron Helmet, Iron Boots, Iron Arrow(2), Steel Dagger Affected: No

   Noteable Items:

  • Treasure Map IV(#4)
  • Skill Book: 2920, Last Seed, Volume 8: Sneak
