Lore: Distances and Size

  • Skyrim is huge ingame but what about in lore? I can't find any distances, measurements, etc. about how far it is to Whiterun from a certain point or the size of the city in lore. It's obviously heavily influenced by Rohan and the tree reminds me of the White Tree of Gondor. The city itself is plagued by harsh winters and maligned by overall bad times. Rohan was suffering from Saruman's corruption among other things. What would some safe guesses that could be considered canon be?

Skyrim's streets and holds may be nearly empty (I have a great idea once the creation kit comes out to make holds more populated / alive) but lore wise they would be full of people. In the stories I'm writing about Sindathiel and his life as a ranger I want Skyrim to have a massive and epic scale. Not necessarily with deeds but with sheer size. It also allows with the addition of certain things like forests, mountain ranges and other things in between but hopefully Bethseda doesn't send the Thalmorian Inquisition after me for some copyright witch-hunt. Also am I the only one who plays "Riders of Rohan" every time I approach Whiterun?
