  • Chapter Ten: Split

    (EXPLICIT CONTENT)

Malachi stood on the balcony, looking over the courtroom. Falmer where picking apart old Dwemer machines and looting dead brothers and Argonians alike. He never understood why they could move and fight so well being blind. However good their sense of smell and hearing were. He would be lost without his eyes. Malachi smiled to himself as he watched them run about, like little rats.

Malachi laughed silently, and the railing cracked. Silently. The monk didn’t hear it until it was too late, the railing collapsed and Malachi fell. Almost fifty feet downward, he crashed on top of the rocks and he heard his ribs crack. He rolled on his back, and started upward he could see no one above him in the low light. He groaned as he passed out on the rocks.

Rodane sat up suddenly, there was dust in the air and Malachi was gone. He crawled towards the edge and could see Malachi laying on the ground. His body mangled and his left arm in a painful position, and the Falmer were cautiously advancing. Rodane watched in horror as he realized that he could do nothing, nothing to stop them from dismantling his friend.

Azeel rolled himself to edge and his eyes fixed on the Falmer, the low light he could still recognize them. Then he saw Malachi who laid broken on the rocks, “HEY! YOU STUPID MUTANTS! GO AWAY!”

The four Falmer look straight up at them, seemingly forgetting that the rocks had fallen. “GAHHH!” The Falmer growled up at them.

One of them was armed with a bow launched a pair of arrows up at them, both flying harmlessly overhead but still ducking to be safe.

Rodane shot up and packed their supplies as quickly as possible as Azeel pried the grate off. Rodane rushed past him as the pair carried their now heavy supplies back to another grate, before the latter they climbed down. Rodane knocked it down using his shoulder, and helped Azeel out of the grate.

They were on the slope of a hall, at the bottom there were two Falmer loitering around. Azeel drew his sword and rested it on his shield and moved forward with Rodane right on his heels. Azeel was two feet from the Falmer before he attacked, his thrust his iron sword into the back of the creature's head. The other turns and attempts to draw it’s weapon but Rodane charges up a Fireball Destruction Spell and it ignites the Falmer burning it loudly as it shrieks.

The pair move past it’s writhing body, Azeel and Rodane don’t put it out of it’s misery and let it burn. They reach an old door with one of them still bolted to the wall and the other collapsed on the ground. Azeel leads with his shield up and Rodane with a pre-charged Destruction spell. There was a pungent odor in the room and they didn’t know what made the smell until they rounded the corner.

A Falmer camp was before them, they were on a small rise overlooking the cluster of tents. There were six tents in the room, and two pens holding chaurus. They could only count about eleven Falmer, they could take eleven but it would be hard work.

“Rodane, how should we slaughter them?” Azeel asked.

Rodane cancelled his spell, “Quietly, as little noise as possible,”

“Okay, well then here is the plan,”

    Fifteen Minutes Later

Azeel slide down the small hill and leaned up against the nearest tent, the Falmer didn’t notice. Rodane had already begun to move to a vantage point to cast Destruction spells upon the Falmer, he also had his short sword on his belt.

Azeel came around the bend of the tent, there were two Falmer standing facing him. He ducked backwards, he sat stock still. The Falmer never followed. He slowly remembered that they were blind and they couldn’t see him, and they hadn’t heard him either. Then one of them let out a barking sort of noise. They had smelled him.

Rodane moved along the wall, the Falmer facing Azeel went around the backside. He needed a distraction, his mind raced as he thought about what he could do. He watched as the lone Falmer moved forward, there was silence for a minute and then the sound of clashing steel rang out followed by a Falmer scream. The other ten, all turned quickly and advanced.

He adjusted his shield, and stepped out to face the Falmer. He dodged a jab and cleaved the leg of an advancing opponent. He blocked two quick blows from a Falmer axe and then plunged his sword deep into the stomach of the creature. He yanked it out and felt a stinging sensation in his right shoulder and was flung to the ground. A long wooden arrow protruded from the wound, he groaned in pain and broke off the shaft and stood to face his opponents.

Rodane cast a two Fireballs, one after the other at two Falmer. One struck the Falmer, and it burst into flames and the other missed slightly but got it’s attention. Only five remained after Azeel cut another down. The Falmer advanced towards Rodane with an axe out, he tossed another fireball and drew his short sword.

He slashed down missing and then cut back upwards, it stuck fast in the Falmer’s stomach. He dropped the blade and ignited a second Falmer. Azeel cut down two more Falmer and knocked down the final Falmer and bashed its head in with his shield.

Rodane and Azeel cleaned their weapons and caught their breath.

    “Whew, fun right?” Azeel said.

“Not that much fun,” Rodane said.

“Let’s spend the night here, catch out breath get some more rest,”

    “Fine by me,”
