A Skyrim Tale - The Remaining - Chapter 5: Awake

  • Chapter 5: Awake

(Explicit Chapter, Killing and Swearing a Such, rule of the blog, enjoy!)

Azeel had been awake for a while now, but he had been drugged heavily and was very groggy and couldn’t tell where he was at. He slowly sat up, and his eyes blurred and his head burned with agony. He tried to move his hands to hold his head, but his hands were bound behind his back. He looked around the room, two of the three poles they were tied to had people on them. He tried to recall the events from before he lost consciousness, Utadeek had been hit in the head by a stone. Then the monk fell and Azeel himself was overpowered and knocked out.

    “You’re awake?”

Azeel turned his head to quickly had his vision blurred again. “AH!”

“Don’t move too quickly, they put us under on some high level Skooma.”

“DAMN!” Azeel exclaimed. “Fuck...what’s your name monk?”

“Malachi Theod.” He replied. “Bow monk.”

Azeel looked around the room. The two of them were tied up with Malachi on the right. The room was about the size of a tavern, there were torches above their heads and and a fire across the room. The  walls were supported with boxes of timber on the walls and two beams crossing for support. There were two men sitting around the fire, one was looking at their captives. “SHUT UP BACK THERE!”

    “My apologies.” Malachi said.

“Fucking monk, if I wasn’t allowed to harm you I’d enjoy beating the shit out of you.”

Slowly, Malachi stood up and looking the guard dead in the eyes he says: “Then do it.”

Malachi had unbound his hands had put them up for a fight. The guards face became slack, he drew his sword and moved forward. The other guard sat up and hefted his blade as well and followed close behind. The first guard slashed downward, Malachi side stepped and threw right jab. As the guard stumbled, Malachi grabbed the neck of his armor with his right hand and punched the neck of the guard. He fell and began to cough loudly and rolled on to his hands and knees and coughed up blood.

The second guard stopped unsure if he should advance, raising his sword to defend himself he stood still. Malachi moved quickly forward, he feinted a right punch and the guard took the bait and dogged left only to catch a full left hook which knocked him on to his side and Malachi took and knee and delivered three quick punches from his left hand and killed the guard. The first guard had suffocated since his windpipe collapsed on itself from his punch.

Malachi stood up and put both hands on his head and smoothed his long hair backwards. He picked up a knife and cut the binds on his new Argonian ally. Azeel slowly stood up rubbing the pain away in his wrists, his still had his armor on. “Where is Utadeek?”

Malachi looked around the room, as if Utadeek and freed himself and hidden. “He was here a few hours ago, before you awoke but he hadn’t maybe they killed him. It doesn’t make sense though, if he was dead why bring him all this way?”

“What do you mean all this way, we are at Cragslane right?” Azeel questioned.

“No, after they drugged us we were in a covered cart for a long time. I was in and out of consciousness, but I don’t know how far or what direction we went in.”

Azeel put his hand on his head and gripped the two long horns their, NO! My brother, the last in our line. I had promised. I had promised.” (Authors note: Italic text in quotes are thoughts).

Malachi went over to a table in the room and lifted his recurve bow and his quiver from the table. He waved his hand for Azeel to come over, Azeel obeyed and took his sword and shield from his new friends outstretched hand. “Thank you.” Azeel mumbled.

“Here.” Malachi extended arms and embraced Azeel as he wept for his brother’s fate.

After a few minutes Azeel stepped back. He collected some food and supplies from the room and they pair ate what could be their last meal. Malachi stood and moved towards the door, opening it ajar he peered through the space. He lifted his hand showed Azeel his palm to have him stop, turning his hand he beckons him using his fingers. They come into a long corridor, it was an old dwemer hall unlike their holding chamber. The walked about 200 yards before coming to a balcony.

Azeel could not believe what he saw, the cavern was large the size of an immense stadium. The stadium was so bright, there was light swirling into a large orange orb at the center of the cavern. The light came from 24 towers each with what looked like a man casting their light. As well as one on each of the ends, one at the end and another man standing about fifteen feet above them. Each had a man standing next to them, much like a guard.

“What the hell.” Whispered Azeel as if he didn’t want anybody to hear him say it.

Malachi pointed right below them, “Look there!”

Azeel leaned over and say a large group of people sitting in a semi circle all facing the balcony, Azeel leaned below the railing. Malachi looked at him weird and motioned him to stand up, Azeel did and saw that their attention was focused on a man tied to a pole. Standing in a slumped fashion, he seemed unconscious.

Azeel slowly realized that it was Utadeek tied to the pole. “UTADEEK!” Azeel shouted.

All of the mages and their guards stopped and turned to look at the pair on the balcony. So did all of the people sitting down. They all were pointing at them, on of the men sitting rose and shouted: “GET THEM!”
