on a side note

  • In this last week of waiting, I've been trying to find things to do to hurry time along.  I've found myself rereading my Wheel of Time series of books by Robert Jordan and it occured to me that the reason for my obsession with these books is similar to my constant need to explore every dungeon and grab every peice of armor and weapons I can lay my hands on in the Elder Scrolls games.  A realistic new environment.  I was wondering how many of you are also fans of the series?  I've named most of my TES builds after characters in the books.

    I actually started my early ventures into fantasy with The Death Gate Cycle series.  Elven Star is still one of my favorite books along with Serpent Mage.  Haplo was one of my first battle mage names I used in Oblivion.  I hadn't heard of Dragonships yet ...  more

    It's been a long long time since I heard that series mentioned by anyone.  I've read most fantasy series that predate 2000, with the only current exception being the George R.R. Martin series, "A Song of Ice and Fire", which I have followed since "A Game ...  more

    I read the first 6 or so books, but I kind of fell out of it after getting frustrated when the books became less about adventuring and more about posturing.  Nothing was happening.  They had the world at their fingertips as they were practically demi-gods...  more
