Character Build: The Crystallurgist

  • March 13, 2015

I'm gonna be buying enchanted glass armor once it becomes available!  Arcane Blacksmith won't be necessary until level 36.

Matching Set I'm still not sure about.  I might just go without a helmet all the time (I don't like helmets anyway) and use the Lv25+ Mage's Circlet when in End-Negative mode.  If I do that, I'll have a perk to get Unhindered or pick up Rune Master instead (I really love runes).  Getting Wind Walker back would require me to take that extra point out of Summoner, or gut something from your build.  I tend not to power attack often and don't mind moving a tiny bit slower.  In fact, once I hit AR cap and high magic resist I plan to slow walk invade bandit camps and such.

23/24 stones now!  Can't play at the moment, but I hit Lv10 with a small boost from starting my smithing career.  I realized AFTER I destroyed the DB that Cicero's Clothes can't be obtained that way, boo!  Vile's lovely Masque should still be enough Fortify Barter to get me the 25k for Proudspire and that last stone.

Adrianne Avenicci was the only guest who attended my wedding.  I'm mostly okay with that. xD Getting married sooner is a nice +5% to my smithing XP!  The skill would be flying up if mass-transmuting iron to silver was easier.  Once I'ved used up all the amethysts, I should be able to move on to gold for the most part.

If I replay this build on PC, I will have mods that make smithing equally viable as an early-game or late-game skill, so I won't have to spaz out all over Skyrim collecting some dark elf's lucky stones again.  Better role-playing from just roaming around doing quests wherever you happen to be!

I like Ring of the Erudite now. :)

I told you there's nothing that comes close! It's amazing how few people comprehend the true power of this thing.

I'm exploring it now (my first magey character who doesn't use Enchanting) and I'm just astonished and horrified and slightly giddy and sick with its epicness. I think I got it a bit early in the game, but I will enjoy its power.

I can't remember if I've ever commented on this build, but this is one of my all-time favourite builds, just for its sheer mastery of Alchemy. If I could, I'd give it another 8 likes.

I'll say it again, this is a great build Teccam and it has to be my favorite Alchemy build on the site. Everyone who hasn't already give it a like or two.

I would totally do this  as a Hidden Gem Spotlight if it wasn't Mythic....Oh wait.

Wow, thanks Ely. That means a lot to me!

No such thing as getting the RIng of the Erudite too early -- it's not leveled, and its power only continues to grow as you increase your Magicka pool and add standard Magicka Regen effects. In the endgame, if you really go for broke, it's downright silly how fast your regen can become -- we're talking 50+ Magicka per second, easily. Probably even 100+ if you're min-maxing.

Hah, thanks DB. Like I said to Ely, it really means a lot to hear comments like this. I always knew this build would not appeal to everyone -- it's pretty complex and analytical, and for some silly reason, there are a lot of Alchemy critics out there. (I dunno if they're just jealous, or if they don't know what they're missing out on.... :p )

So hearing from people whom this build does appeal to, and to hear such high praise, is extremely affirming for me.

I've always liked alchemy.  As a wizard, it's already part of my life. ;) My 'main' Skyrim character after I started adding mods was a Breton alchemist from Daggerfall who ended up in Skyrim looking for her brothers (Legionnaires).  My love for alchemy only grew exponentially when I learned what it could do in Skyrim, how easy it was with Hearthfire, and that people had made apps and websites to help with finding the best ingredient combos.

After grinding smithing using all these gems, I can't see how anyone would find alchemy painful. You definitely picked the right crafting skill to include, mate!

Thanks again, Librari. The only thing that can be more meaningful than hearing people say it's their favorite alchemist build is when people talk about their experiences actually playing it, as you've been doing. Cannot describe how rewarding that is!

And yeah, between Hearthfire and those online tools, it's never been easier to be an Alchemist in Tamriel. I'm gonna be super salty if they don't have ingredient planting in TES VI; I've grown a bit dependent on my gardens, I think. -_-
