You are now in the Exemplar rank, of which I am in charge. It might as well be my own little plane of Oblivion. Disrupt the Exemplar rank, and I will have you torn apart by angry atronachs. Now, do you require assistance?

Welcome to the Exemplar rank. Builds in here have braved the fires of the Bloodworks and distinguished themselves from the mass of builds in the Recognized rank. Regular builds in this rank have 40-69 likes while event builds in this rank have 25-39 likes. It may only be the middle rank, but it takes a quality build to reach this far.

In this discussion you may talk about any and all things related to the Exemplar rank as well as its event build counterpart. Builds that could be improved, builds that should be in a higher rank, or even builds that simply deserve more attention are all fair game.

I periodically feature different Exemplar builds on this page. All of these builds are ones that I think belong in a higher rank or ones that I think deserve more attention. Feel free to suggest any builds for me to feature in the comments below as well.

If you have a build in the Exemplar rank and are looking to take it to the next level, then simply post a link to it in the comments and I'll try to give what feedback and support I can. Remember though, not all builds will reach the top, but if your build makes it this far, then you can definitely consider it a good build.

    The Bleak Walker

The Bleak Walker is the kind of build that puts the "bad" in "badass". This build is, by Karver's own admission, his first attempt as an evil character, and he does not disappoint. The Bleak Walker is a top-notch mercenary, using both the Bloodskal Blade and Ebony Blade to massacre his enemies, instilling within them fear through sheer brutality. If you've ever wanted to let loose and slaughter an entire village at the slightest provocation, look no further than the Bleak Walker.

    Tips and Resources

If your build has made it to Exemplar, then you most likely have the basics of character building in this group down. General gameplay, roleplay, lore, and presentation stuff should be familiar to you. In other words, basic resources like the Character Building Guide or the Character Building Template are beyond you at this point. In light of that, the tips and resources I have listed below are for more advanced stuff.

Vazgen's Character Building HTML/CSS Tricks Lists some techniques you can do in Ning's HTML Editor to help improve your build's presentation. Don't worry, they don't require an advanced understanding of HTML Code; just copy what he does in the discussion.

Guides to Making a Perk Spread: GIMP and Microsoft Word/Paint Most of you with Exemplar builds have most likely already made perk spreads. For those of you that haven't, these links will show you how. Almost everyone prefers to see a perk spread image in the build itself rather than something like a link to Skyrim Perk Calculator, so keep that in mind.

Make Your Build Sound Exciting – Admittedly, this easier said than done, but some of the best builds out there made their way to the top simply because their authors make them sound like the best thing in the world. This is one of those things where it's easier to see an example rather than have it described to you, so I recommend that you check out some of No snakes aLive's builds, he's a master at making his builds sound exciting.

The Tips and Tricks Group There's a lot of good stuff in the Tips and Tricks Group that can you can incorporate into your current or future builds. If you really want to take your build to the next level, then I advise scouring T&T for anything that might work with your builds.

    Good write up!

Think about including resources that could assist builders in this rank....

Try and pinpoint the things that are 'wrong' with the builds living here that could be improved on, is it more a presentation thing or is the writing off?

Maybe display a 'shining example' build from Mythic as a goal for people stuck here...

Also consider a tiny bit of 'host competition' with these new pages...

Curse has presented a very nice base set-up here but if all the pages are exactly the same it's possible the idea won't carry the right appeal.

Like I said, try and treat it as an extension of your profile page. Make them quirky and different from each other...

How well are you supporting your rank?

...will a clear leader emerge among you who is beasting builds to success?

Excellent page albino. The only thing I see that could be improved is moving the link to the exemplar builds closer to the emblem and perhaps making the emblem a bit smaller.

I was gonna have optional heavy metal for Exemplar but the others shot me down. :P

I'll definitely be looking for tips and advice I can try to give to Exemplar builds as a whole, possibly a good example of a build from Mythic too.

Thanks Curse. Yeah, I just noticed the issue with the Exemplar rank link myself. It's sitting closer to the emblem now. As for making the emblem smaller, I like it at the size it is; that way, it shows off all the little details Mason put into it.

Interesting idea! So this is essentially a features page? Sort of a not-so-hidden gem spotlight? My one question is why Exemplar? Why not Mythic? I know the Bloodworks have Deathmatches and Recognized has the Hidden Gem Spotlight (and Legendary builds need no publicity. They've already earnt it) but I'm genuinely interested in the choice. Will the other ranks have pages like this one? Is this a personal host opinion thing, or more of a grouped/general thought. Thanks for featuring the DS btw.

I'll answer all your questions in order.

So this is essentially a features page? Sort of a not-so-hidden gem spotlight?

At the moment, it's more or less just a features page, but I'm going to try to add some tips, resources, and the like to help Exemplar builds reach the upper ranks. Basically, do what Mason said in the above comments, in other words.

My one question is why Exemplar? Why not Mythic?

Because Curse was taking too long on making the Mythic one and Mason was chomping at the bit for one of these pages to get posted. Also, that was not one question. :P

Will the other ranks have pages like this one?

    Yes

Is this a personal host opinion thing, or more of a grouped/general thought?

Each host is going to be in charge of a different rank, so yes, it will be a personal host thing. The exception is the Legendary page, the CB hosts will run that one collectively. Of course, since the builds in that rank have already reached the top, we won't be doing a lot with the Legendary page.

Thanks for featuring the DS btw.

No problem. I promised Curse that I would and more importantly, it should be up there with the rest of your collabs.

On second thought I prefer the links to the builds the way I got them on my mythic page. But then again this is afterall your domain.

I've been thinking about that, actually. I think I'll go with the top and bottom approach.
