Character Building Event: Reviews

    Hello everyone!

As some of you have known for quite some time, we CB hosts have decided to organize a new type of event with the help of HeroicXCV and pcoutcast! Hopefully it will be something that everyone will enjoy. Here's what we're going to do:

Once the Crossworlds Event is over on the 23rd of February, we start this new event. We call it Reviews. Simply put, four Character Builds will be picked from Mythic, Legendary and all the previous Events and people will play and review them. The entire event will take place over four weeks. In the first week, we CB hosts will post a discussion in which people will nominate Character Builds to be reviewed. At the same time, HeroicXCV and pcoutcast will pick their own builds to review however they wish. At the end of the first week, we CB hosts pick two builds from the nominated ones and as a result we will have four builds up for review:

    • One build chosen by HeroicXCV
    • One build chosen by pcoutcast
    • Two builds chosen by us CB hosts

In the following three weeks, we CB hosts will post a discussion much like an event, in which people sign up and comment personal reviews or give feedback on the four chosen Character Builds while playing them. These comments should not look like "OMG! Ponty's build is awesome!!!!!!11". Comments should describe:

    • What did people like and dislike most about the build?
    • What obstacles did people encounter while playing the build?
    • What are the most efficient ways to do certain things with the build?
    • Is there something that can be improved in the build?
    • How did people ultimately feel about the build and why?

Participants to this event can even post videos with playthroughs or reviews of the build on the Skyrim Blog. What is awesome is that both HeroicXCV and pcoutcast will do their own video reviews/character presentations on their chosen Character Builds!

If you have no idea who HeroicXCV and pcoutcast are, then have a look at a couple of videos from their Youtube Channels:

While you're at it, if you appreciate their work, don't forget to like and subscribe!

Just out of curiosity, why four separate builds? Edit: It'd be cool to see Heroic and pcoutcast make vids of the two that we voted on instead of two random ones nobody played.

Ah, so was this your super-secret event?

I can't say this was what I expected, but I really like the idea. Is this also going to facilitate the Purge of the higher ranks as well? Maybe I missed it, but will each participant be reviewing and playing through all four? If so, that's a bit much, to go to level 40-50 in one week, especially during school terms.

I've been looking for an excuse to start Let's Playing, so, I'll probably start with this, it's as good a reason as any!

Why four builds? One or two builds would be too few. Four is optimal.

And what happens if they like none of the builds you guys nominate?

    Elysium making vids? Hells yeah!

There's no purge of the higher ranks, yet. Live in fear, mortals!

Every participant will be playing/reviewing as many builds as he or she likes. But, if you already played one or more of the picked builds in the past, you can still participate into the event and comment reviews.

Good idea guys. Something a bit different - but in a good way

Looking forward to see how it pans out... might even jump in and take part myself

Won't this just turn into a massive self-advertising thread? Everybody will want to nominate their own builds, right? How about have it so you can't nominate your own builds?

That may be a good idea. I'll take this in consideration when Albino and I are making the event rules.
