Character Building Event: Crossworlds

           Hello everyone! Albino and I are proud to present you the fifth Character Building Event: Crossworlds. Read the name once! Read the name twice! Read it until you've gone through all the letters in the word and you're absolutely sure it's Crossworlds! Check out that awesome "l" letter between "Crosswor" and "ds"! For this event, we have decided to allow people to use their imagination in building characters inspired from any other fantasy universe characters but the Elder Scrolls. Heck, you can draw your inspirations even from real life figures. There's a catch however, which might prove difficult. You need to understand the huge difference between the inspiration or adaptation of a character to Skyrim and complete rip-off! You need to understand what it means to take a character from another world, Toph from Avatar for instance, and skyrimize it up to the point where it's a bit unclear who the original inspiration was! In order to prevent mistakes, I am going to add a rule saying that you cannot put any direct reference to the inspired character when writing the character build presentation, aside from the Closing Notes section! I don't want to see a character build centered around Toph somehow travelling through space and time right into the Elder Scrolls universe! I want to see a tough blind mage with earth bending like abilities that has a knack for breaking the law and fights for the independence of Skyrim! In order to help you further in understanding all this, here's a list of character builds inspired from other fantasy universes:

    Tips

           I want people to find similarities between the Elder Scrolls world and the chosen universe/character; then greatly expand on them. Have a look at the Daughter of Coldharbour, my take on Sylvanas Windrunner. Sylvanas Windrunner was turned against her will into an undead. Every Daughter of Coldharbour is raped (something against her will) before being turned into a pure vampire (or undead). The two are both archers with necromantic powers that have a knack for possessing people or bending their minds. Why does the DoC like enslaving or dominating people? Because Molag Bal, her master, is the daedric prince of domination. I just took the original concept and made it work, made it feel natural in the Elder Scrolls world using lore and a lot of imagination. This is what it means to Skyrimze a character. If you are still confused, watch this video made by Ponty explaining what it means to plan a Character Build for the event:

    Rules and Requirements

    • Participants that are new to character building must read and understand The Guide to Character Building and have a look at this Build Template because presentation skills do matter a lot! You guys can also optionally watch some of HeroicXCV's videos on Youtube about character building: What to Consider When A Skyrim Build and 3 Ways to Enhance Your Character Build;
    • Your build must be based on a character from another fantasy universe or even real life, but not the Elder Scrolls. Please specify the name of the character and universe.
    • You cannot put any direct reference to the inspiration in the character build presentation, except for the Closing Notes section, at the end! Artwork is an exception to this rule.
    • Completed character builds must be posted between the 9-th at 12:00 AM EST and 23-rd  of February, 2015, at 12:00 AM EST. You'll have a lot of free time for Christmas and New Year's Eve this way.
    • Your build must range between levels 35-55. No more, no less.
    • Event builds must have a rank tag and use the 'Event:Crossworlds' tag. All other optional tags can be applied.
    • It is strongly suggested that participants watch the above video!

    If you need tips or advice with your character build, either myself or Albino will do our best to point you in the right direction. That does not mean we will write it for you. Feel free to message me or Albino if you need some assistance.

    Confirmed Participants

           There are bound to be similar builds or even the same inspirations. Don't be afraid to post your build in fear of it looking like a rip-off. We ask nicely that you only put your name down if you are 100% sure that you are willing to put in the effort! Should you happen to feel uninterested or cannot think of anything between now and the submission deadline, please comment below and we will remove your name from the list.

    NOTICE!

    This event has closed as of the 24th of February at 12:00 AM EST.

    Any build submitted after this point will not be included in this event or be listed among the other participants that took part.

    How about loading a trebuchet with a nyan cat?

    I'm the opposite xD I figure those familiar with the books will pick up on it, and those eho aren't would just be turned off by additional explanations... I'm tempted to forgo a final notes section entirely.
