Some of you have heard of The Story Corner, some of you haven't or simply have yet to wander in our territory. So, with that in mind, what is TSC exactly? It's a safe, friendly place where members of all levels and skills can write creatively and share their stories with other like-minded individuals who enjoy reading and telling stories. It doesn't matter if you have several degrees or dropped out of school. There's nothing worse in the world than a blank page, so give it a go. Write a few words. Read a few stories. No one knows where the journey will take you and no one can guess who you will meet on the way. Hosted by Sotek

Found it, I think, unless there are more videos of pissed Irishmen moving sofas (knowing the internet, there probably are). Honestly, that, I couldn't decrypt in a thousand years. All I understood of the mouthy guy was 'fockin', 'focka' and maybe a 'bastard'. From the other guy, I got 'leave it alone'. This post was edited by The Wing at March 13, 2018 4:06 PM EDT

I am extremely surprised at how well I can understand those Scots. I got pretty much everything except the slang. The subtitles make me confused though. It's like listening to readings of Middle English; I can't read a word of it, but it sounds like English with a strong accent. Might be my everything-but-the-kitchen-sink blood. XD

Zonnonn said: But if I had to choose a language that I'd just know, probably Urdu, which I'm surprised no one else has mentioned actually. There's a massive, massive Pakistani demographic in my city and it'd be nice for someone other than themselves to talk to them in their native tongue, plus it sounds awesome and fancy. And there's also the fact that if the lads down at the local curry house like me they might give me a discount, and as curry is amazing this is the highest priority. That's gotta be the first time in my life I've ever heard anyone call Urdu 'fancy'. I might just be biased because I'm a Pakistani and know the culture a bit too well, but good grief do I find Urdu ugly and crass. It and most of the other wacky languages we have over here. I don't know much Urdu, but I know no other Pakistani langauge so I try to hear it in all of them. Big mistake. Pashto is one great big mind bomb. A few full-fledged Pakistani kids at my school say English was easier for them to learn than Urdu, and that Urdu literature is literally the worst thing in the world. Unbelievably complicated somehow (I wouldn't know, I can barely even read the script). But now I can safely brag about knowing someone who likes the language, even if it's just for curry. :)

My sister and I are both doing German courses, mainly because we find it funny. XD No offence meant to Germans; I make fun of English just as often for other specific reasons... *cough* English grammar is a bunch of excrement *cough* :I

I'm a new learner of Russian and German at the moment, but I would love to be able to learn Chinese and Te Reo Maori, Nahuatl or Cree. Not for particularly cultural reasons - I just want to have a keen understanding of all the different ways a language can develop, and into what, and the most practical way to do that seems to be to explore real languages.

  • The Wood King: Part Four

    Posted May 15, 2016

Contains ugly language   Dawn found the young slave damp with dew beside Mallariel’s tent, staring blankly at the pale-faced sky. The night had been punishing. Mallariel had cut his ropes and gave him a skirt to wear and a cloak for blanketing himself, but it was not the cold ...

    Posted March 13, 2016

Contains unpleasant language   Flooding his ears through the rumble of the storm, the applause continued to rise. It was terrifying. There was nobody there! Though he spun round and round, Tancredo could see no figures in the trees. No contours behind the curtain of rain. He backed ...

  • The Wood King: Part Two

    Posted January 31, 2016

Contains violence and vulgar language   Getting beyond the city wall was easy once Tancredo realised he could fit through the sewage grates. Then it was just a matter of finding a main road and following it. Soon he was upon the Orange Road, heading south-east.   It was as he...

  • The Wood King: Part One

    Posted January 4, 2016

In the Thieves Guild, the penance for betrayal is betrayal. When Tancredo confronted Yaruzhi in the Oaken Tankard Tavern and rammed an unsubtle knife into her bosom, the consequences were thrown at him by the handful before he had time to blink. He was alone as the guards dragged him to ga...

Warning! Proceed with caution, for this chapter contains the following:   coarse language In a hypnopompic state, Ruunen’s eyes followed the gentle streams of blood trickling down the back-cloth of his eyelids, stark. He was not certain how he ended up in that dark, dark plac...
