About Christianity, well, the New Testament is not all that bad, it teaches some fine stuff in there. But the Old one is just horrible, dude. Have you ever read it? It basically asks of the believers to murder the majority of people on earth, be it because "they have dishonored their parents" or because "they have been unfaithful of their husbands" or even because "they said the name of God in public". I've asked priests and the like, while I was still christian, why is the Holy Book writing such stuff, and all they said is that the Old Testament is not valid anymore, for Jesus has changed it. Well, just in the ninth page of the New Testament (at least mine), Jesus himself says (Matthew) 17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from... less

And yeah, my religion hasn't really done yours, or really any others, much good. especially in the Middle Ages. There are some new age neo pagan groups. And, there is a line I paraphrase from a fic I read, "Truth becomes a story, stories become myths and legends." Plus, some Christians state the Book of Genesis is allegory for God creating everything, and not exactly how He did it. Plus all the debate among the sects of Christians about whether Jesus was ever human, was he a divine being disguising himself as a mortal, was he divine and mortal, etc. less

The stories and tales are not to be taken literally. Every myth has some truth in it, is it not? For example, the death of Baldr the Bright at the end of summer could very well be interpreted as the "death of the sun" and the coming of winter and Ragnarok (the death of our world - winter - and the sacred rebirth - spring). Baldr and his beloved Nanna are reborn after Ragnarok, symbolizing the rebirth of the sun and the coming of summer. Pagans, dating back to Animism itself, the most ancient religion of our world, gave the different forces and spirits of nature names, personificating them into the legends we see today. How unfortunate that the ancient knowledge and wisdom was destroyed during the Middle-Ages, along with the infamous "witch hunts" and the burnings at the stake. Most of our knowledge of the past now comes from sources christian monks wrote during that time. Christian monks that absolutely wanted to eradicate paganism and used propaganda to make them look extremely evil an... less

Garthar the Old → Halfdan the Black: At the same time, I was doing a blood sacrifice to Odin over some plant outside the city. Fun times, fun times...

Chris: Hey Garthar, glad to see you're still around

Halfdan the Black: Indeed. Last year in 21th June, during Summer Solstice. There was a mighty thunderstorm during night. We had several friends with us and we all could hear Thor in the thunder. From this moment I knew I was doing something right.
