Some of you have heard of The Story Corner, some of you haven't or simply have yet to wander in our territory. So, with that in mind, what is TSC exactly? It's a safe, friendly place where members of all levels and skills can write creatively and share their stories with other like-minded individuals who enjoy reading and telling stories. It doesn't matter if you have several degrees or dropped out of school. There's nothing worse in the world than a blank page, so give it a go. Write a few words. Read a few stories. No one knows where the journey will take you and no one can guess who you will meet on the way. Hosted by Sotek

in the topic What do your adventures look like in your head? in the forum Elder Scrolls
I imagine my Skyrim adventures more as a live-action movie - much higher res than the video game, definitely not animation style.  I think in my brain I write more like a screenplay than a story, too.

in the topic Your First Time Playing Skyrim... Ever! in the forum Elder Scrolls
Having recently played a male Dunmer thief and a Khajiit unarmed monk in Oblivion, I knew I wanted to play a straightforward 2H warrior. Since I knew a bit about the civil war questline, I chose a Nord. Since I wasnt using any spells, I spent a week working for Hod chopping wood and another couple of weeks (in game) working for Alvor and Adrianne to buy decent armor, because I was terrified that I would die immediately with crappy armor, no magic, and no enchants. I also gathered ridiculous amounts of iron ore, not realizing that there were many more valuable ores and treasures I should be focusing my energy on. It worked out well, though, because it evolved into a laborer-crafter playthrough oriented around hunting and self-sufficiency, which I had never done before, and that was pretty neat.

in the topic What do you do between level 1 to 20 in skyrim ? in the forum General Gaming
I usually play "clerics" that are basically pure mage builds - I usually give them some 1H skill, but just dagger for RP reasons.  Levels 1-10 "don't count" for me for RP reasons, so I go around and collect all the spell tomes, relevant clothing, tons of alchemy ingredients and do a few of the caves/dungeons between Helgen/Falkreath/Riverwood.  From 10-20, I start the RP relevant quests, hit up the mages guild and Winterhold for some stuff, power level alchemy and some spell skills and then I get very strict about RP'ing my play through somewhere between 15-20. I'm thinking about turning down the difficulty to whatever the lowest setting is and then attempting a pure RP from level 1.  We'll see how that works out. Warriors or hybrids with warrior or stealth skills are usually a lot easier; I generally start RP'ing them right out of Helgen Keep.

Lots of guys play female characters, so showing females would still be playing to the probable audience.

in the topic I done every quest line in skyrim in the forum Elder Scrolls
I'm enjoying Moonpath to Elsweyr, and I've got Wyrmstooth in the queue next, followed by Here There Be Monsters, and then something called Shroud of Jotunheim - ymmv. Basically, I just went through the Quests and Adventures category on Nexus, sorted by Most Endorsed, and then downloaded whatever looked interesting. So far, it's worked out pretty well.

  • Flight: A Prologue

    Posted January 20, 2014

4E 171The wolf trotted slowly along the ridge, tracking the scent of the filthy, sweat-streaked soldiers struggling across the sands below. There were only four left in the detachment now; six other stragglers had already succumbed to thirst, heat stroke, or battle wounds.  The men wasted no energy ...

  • Character Sketch: Julian Nerio

Character number two.  I'm sure you can guess his profession by the end of this piece. *** The Winking Skeever.  What a charming name, Julian thought.  The barest hint of a smirk crossed his handsome face before it was replaced by his habitual feigned expression of polite interest.  What will thes...

    Posted January 8, 2014

I'm not really sure where I'm going with this at the moment, but my vague plan is to put up a series of story sketches of the many characters that live in my brain.  Long-term, I'd like to have them interact, and maybe find some plot and conflict.  But for now, just a character set-piece, and eventu...

  • Arabic Poetry Inspirations for a Character Build: Al Sha'ir

    Posted December 30, 2013

So the D&D Sha'ir is a wizard subclass, when in actuality the historical pre-Islamic poets considered themselves nothing of the sort.  Okay, so they boasted extensively about dealings with the djinn.  Some of them even claimed to have visited alternate realities with them.  But they didn't have ...

  • Lore for a Character Build: The Vala or Spaekona

    Posted December 30, 2013

The Vala, Spaekona, or Völva (pl. Völur) is the Norse seeress or prophetess, priestess or witch, who narrates the magnum opus of the Poetic Edda, the famous Völuspá, or Prophecy of the Völva. The figure of the Vala, "the woman with the staff," turns up in a number of the works of the Poetic and Pros...
