Character Build: The Arrowsworn

Wow this build is awesome! I may even try it but with a Bound Bow instead. Saves me the problem of counting how many arrows I have left.

A little off topic, all your builds are of high quality but finding them can be sometimes difficult. Maybe if you can have a link on all your builds in your page somehow? Not really a demand, just a suggestion. Besides it will help people who are looking for your builds find it easier.

Bound Bow would certainly be viable - much better damage output, I think, than the gear I was using.  You do have the dilemma of whether or not to go for the bound weapons perks... the perk that turns undead / banishes daedra is perfect for the RP, but to get it you need to take the soul trapping one, which seems a bit out of character.  If it were me, I might just content myself with Mystic Binding; you've got Restoration spells to turn the undead anyway.

The only other issue with Bound Bow is the fact that, since it circumvents the arrow scarcity issue, you may run out of stuff to *need*, which makes the poverty aspect of the character a bit less harsh.  Your call, though, obviously.

Thanks for the kind words.  I've thought about putting my builds together somehow but haven't got up the energy to figure out how to do it yet.  I think I put in the absolute least effort possible on my page. :P  It would be nice, though, to have easy reference, since I sometimes forget what I've done myself!

Did you make use of the sun spells from the Dawnguard DLC? :)

Actually no; I don't think I really got into the Dawnguard quest, believe it or not.  It would be a good fit, though - if you can stand Serana.

I gave this build a go about 3 nights ago on the XB360. One of the better builds I've tried in the past few months. It's actually nice not to be bogged down with all that extra crap in my inventory.

"The Arrowsworn's limitations in gear and gameplay options open up some surprising aspects of Skyrim. It's a gratifying playstyle, one which makes you see the world in a different way and appreciate aspects you may never have considered. Despite an apparent lack of flashy tricks, the Arrowsworn is a driven and more than capable adventurer of the harsh northern lands." -Man, this is true. I've done bounty missions that have ranked from easy to outrageous, and have gone to dungeons I've never seen before.

Also, I made the Swordsworn. Same concept and rules, just with a dagger, sword, and great sword; exchanged Elemental Fury for Slow Time, and took Quick Reflexes and the Bash line from the Block tree.

I dig the Swordsworn idea (not big on archery), but how did you acquire the initial sword?

This is the only time I cheat, which I shouldn't. I go with Hadvar. When Hadvar tells you to look for equipment, he's giving you "permission" to get something, which would be ok, but I allow myself to loot one sword, and that's it. After you go to Riverwood, do Alvor's mini quest helping him around the forge to get your dagger. Then I chopped firewood for septims to buy a greatsword from Alvor.

I did my best to keep in tune with the Arrowsworn, just with a few changes. With Paul's permission, I'd love to make Arrowsworn into a playable race. I already started on Swordsworn, just to see how I'd work.

Taking a sword from the chest in Helgen sounds legit to me.  Hadvar is *telling* you to pick stuff up.

If you wanted a more Eastern flavor for your swordsworn, you might even consider allowing yourself to pick up the Blades sword from Delphine's basement - it's not stealing; it's sort of your initiation into her little club; and most importantly Delphine is terrible.

Yeah, Delphine is scary. I have an aunt who acts like her, sans the armor and weapons.

And I'm glad you cleared up the initiation part. I really wanted a Blades sword, but didn't want to cheat and just snag it.

Y'know, if you go even farther into the main quest, you might justify Dragonbane on similar grounds... though that one is perhaps a bit more of a stretch?

I guess it all depends on your backstory.  You could justify Bolar's Oathblade if you said your character was descended from the man himself.  (And that sword is all laid out for you nicely...)

The main thing IMO is to ensure you're being *very* particular with what you pick up; that you're not just looting the corpses and chests; and that anything you take has a legitimate justification.
