Contest Build: The Bloodclaw

Thanks, Al! Man, how long ago did we talk about this stuff? Feels like forever. Just goes to show, a good idea is worth seeing through, no matter how long it takes to make it feel right.

And yeah, it really had to be either Argonian or Orc from a purely mechanical perspective, to gain the full benefit of the "multiple racial power per day" trick. If we'd gone Orc, we probably would've push harder into the raw DPS angle, with the Ring of Bloodlust, superior Fortify Marksman potions, Berserker Rage, maybe the gender-based damage buffs, etc. But we couldn't really think of a good lore/rp angle for an Orc within the constraints of the contest theme.

Honestly, other than Solstheim, I was hardpressed to want to use any race other than Nord, as they're pretty clearly the best representative of any of the holds in Skyrim. I mean, Imperial could be justified for Solitude and there are a few other exceptions, but Nords would still be at home anywhere.... So we really had to find a decent framework to justify choosing Argonian, but I think the Shadow-Scales and DB provide that. And for these mechanics, it was worth that racial choice, no doubt.

As for that picture, yeah, it is pretty dark. I like it though, I wouldn't want it to be brighter. That's a real challenge when taking/editing screenshots on an assassin character -- finding that balance between the proper shadowy vibe and giving enough light to see what's going on. I think it's clear enough that our Bloodclaw is in the midst of slicing some poor gentleman's throat with his dagger, and that's really the only thing that needs to be visible to make it work, IMO. Skally did the editing on that shot, so I'll defer to his judgment here.

Just retested...its def on like donkey kong! Holy crap. I can just stand there and my health hardly dips against bandits. I have the animal vigor perk now...lev 20...looks like 440 health. Power attacks as a wolf are pretty funny too. Like rag-dolling with UR force, but with your paws. Haha. Thanks again!

Sure thing man, glad it's working for you now. Yeah, those sideways power attacks are ridiculous. The sprinting power attacks are great too, especially on large enemies like centurions, dragons, giant spiders, etc. They can actually hit multiple times if you attack at the right moment, and they do massive damage.

Very cool synergy between human(reptile) form and werewolf form. I had no idea of this trick. The synergy in style is also on the spot with orcish axes, bleeding and how all the gear fits together. I also love the perk spread. It feels very natural, comfortable and light.

    +1!

To be fair, I originally viewed the image on my Iphone and it's much easier to see what's going on now that I'm on my desktop. Definitely a cool scene too. Cheers!

This is definitely my first stop when I get around to trying out a werewolf in Skyrim for the first time
