If you're using non craftable gear like blades swords and dawnguard armor, then why go all the way up to the dragon smithing perk? Most of those items require steel or advanced smithing only.

The only conflict I see is with the "Scabbard" switching mid-combat, you sacrifice a lot of DPS to the Drawing Animation.  This also prevents you from stacking up too many effects in successive strikes, because they would tend to wear off too quickly.  Actually would tend to add greater challenge, which is a good thing, but that's the opposite of the optimized high power build this is represented as.  Intriguing idea, otherwise, I like the concept.

It was meant for future instalments like the Dragonborn DLC, so any future gear or weapons that are obtainable but not craftable, however since then I have noticed like you mentioned, only Advanced Armor perk is needed, so that set of points can be redistributed accordingly.

The trade off needs to be worth it, so if your opponent is a mana user, a lightning blade might be better to use than simply a fire blade since you can drain magicka, so yes you sacrifice that bit of dps but overall if you drain an opponent of their magika, then in longer fights the trade off can be worth it, again this is all player discretion. I personally found the situation dictated, so if I was versing a ranged opponent, then while I ran to them and in that time while not being close enough to attack, swapping made sense, but up close in combat was a different case.

    Really cool concept, TZ!

Okay, I mis-understood.  I thought it sounded like you ment to swap mid fight to stack up different enchanting affects, not switching to Shock damage against Spellcasters.  That makes a lot more sense.

I dont know how well this works. I dont know how viable it is. All i know is... IT LOOKS FREAKING AWESOME! It just flows so well! the little sword dip and suddenly there is a new glow of magical pain. Use of fire breath is really nice too. Beautiful! Simply beautiful!

Thanks mate, I wanted a sort of jack of all trades master of none sort of build but within a strata, so I thought within the one handed weapons world a master of those but split in his powers of magic and thus the Scabbard Savant was born.
