Yes but how does the character find out about Neloth?

I cant just go to Solstheim and say yep lets visit my ol Pal Neloth :D

Maybe Savos could tell him? since Neloth knows Savos why not vise versa. He even gives you a Staff after Saarthal.

Maybe. Or maybe Brelyna told him, she is a Telvanni after all, must have heard about one of the oldest and greatest Telvanni magisters.

I like that one. he'll travel with her to Solstheim after the Marriage ^^and she spots Neloths Tower on the Ship ride there.

Maybe she knew from the start that he lived there. She might have mentioned him before, maybe in relation to his studies, like that she heard about Neloth being renowned for his knowledge in that subject.

I've been looking at various Nord builds and came across The Skaal Crusader.  (Which I think is also posted here, but the images have long since died.) It looks fantastic, but I'm having a hard time getting my head around the RP.

First, is there a good reason for a Skaal to be in Skyrim? I was thinking that maybe weird stuff is starting to happen in Solstheim and she (I plan to play as female) is sent to check things out on the mainland. Would that be conceivable, and what options would work well in Alternate Start? Second, I know the Skaal worship the All-Maker, but do they recognize the existence of the other Aedra? Would a Skaal pray at a shrine, for example? Third, the build is also pretty dependent on the Bloodskal Blade, but that requires heading back into Solstheim for the Dragonborn DLC. At what level is it recommended to head there? I've always done it around levels 35-45, but I don't know how early I could actually get away with it.

And anything that I haven't thought of or ways to play this build would be helpful.

There can be a variety of reason why a Skaal would go to Skyrim, the most obvious I can think of is a situation where the Skaal have encountered some trouble and to solve it, a particular kind of information or an artifact is needed, which cannot be obtained on Solstheim.

I doubt the Skaal even know much about the Aedra, let alone worship them, much less Talos as the build suggests (too war-oriented for the peaceful mindset of the Skaal and completely alien as they hardly associate themselves with the Empire. As I see it, the only Aedra a Skaal might come to worship would be Kynareth.

From the options in Alternate start, the most obvious seems the traveler who arrived on a ship to Windhelm or a patron in an inn.

Also, many things depend on your character's own personality, whether she would be a fierce type who charges into battle with a raging shout, starts tavern brawls and dreams of becoming a great hero (joining the Companions would be an obvious option for her in that case), or she is a more peaceful and quiet type, seeking merely to help and protect her people, or some other kind of person, that is what would influence most of her choices, no?

@Monica21 - You could say one of your character's parents was from a Skaal tribe but married and decided to live in Skyrim after he had left the tribe to travel. After living some of her childhood in Skyrim your family was forced to leave due to "reasons" like debt or something serious which made them not to feel safe in Skyrim and seek refuge with the Skaal tribe one of her parents originated from (like being targeted by the thieves guild or something). After years of living and growing up in Solstheim your character is bored with the dull life and scenery there and longs to go back in Skyrim and then...

I would work with this as the general idea and then enrich it a bit to be a proper backstory. I think the origins of the parents one from Skaals one from Skyrim ties together the elements of the character the life as a Skaal and the longing to travel back in Skyrim.

Not sure if that helped have fun with your playthrough

What's a good end goal for a merchant? And would it make sense for my smith character to forge wares, but not sell them herself?
