He also has a goatee with the remaining stubble shaven. He will pay less and less attention to his hair or beard. Not shaving for weeks when he spends time in Apocrypha.

His hair and beard will start to turn lighter until it ends up white like freshly fallen snow due to the stress the knowledge of Apocrypha puts on his body.

Apparel: He wears leather gloves, warm black fur boots and blue mage robes from back when he was a scholar at the Arcane University.

He was trained by Falion for the 4 Years he spend in the College and continued expanding his Knowledge in the following Years inside the Arcane University. He is proficient in summoning various Daedra. He will master his connection to Oblivion through his studies inside Apocrypha.

Restoration: Ovidius specialty, his first 10 Years of training were mostly in the Restoration school of magic. He developed his Restoration skills later on in life after hearing about how Elves were able to lengthen their life spans for Hundreds of Years. He is proficient with Restoration up to the rank of Adept but will train more with it inside Apocrypha.

Destruction: He never really cared enough for the school of Destruction to sink a lot of time into it. He stayed at the Apprentice rank for the school of Destruction and felt comfortable at this level. He might learn to use spells up to the Adept rank but will never master those spells.

Alteration: He practices the school of Alteration but felt comfortable staying at the Apprentice level. He will however devote himself to master the Alteration spells he uses, increasing the thickness of his shield spells.

Enchanting: He was taught the basics of Enchanting in the Arcane University but never considered it his strong suit. His enchanting skill will develop through his job as a wandering enchanter but it won't be something to rely on.

    Summons

Bone/Mist/Wrath Men: His Vanguard. He will Summon at least one of them in every battle. The Wrath Man is his main combat force plowing through the ranks of the Opposition. You will mostly encounter Agrippa with a Wrath Man and a Seeker by his side.

Elemental Daedra: The basic fighting force of his otherworldly Servants. He will start out with these until he gets his hands on either the Seeker or the Servants of the Ideal Masters.

    Background

Special Abilities: He learned how to use a shout from Hermaeus Mora and learned an incantation to summon the dragon Durnehviir

Place of Birth: Cyrodiil, Imperial Cities Market District

Religion:  He is a devout follower of Hermaeus Mora.

Residence: He lives in the College of Winterhold until he destroys the Volkihar vampires, then he will live in Volkihar Castle alone

Political Views: He has no affiliation to either the Empire or the Stormcloaks. He won't involve himself with politics, he has his eyes on his goal

Occupation: He is a traveling mage. He enchants equipment for smiths and general goods stores and fills soul gems for other mages.

Factions: Arcane University, College of Winterhold and the Dawnguard

Favorite Food/Drink: He likes food that's easy to eat while studying. Bread with various toppings, Stews and Apples. He doesn't like to drink alcohol since he has no tolerance for it and will get drunk quickly. But he still enjoys a fine wine after a long day when he has nothing else to do

Interests: Reading books, sharpening his magic skills, studying inside Apocrypha and exploring the Soul Cairn.

Flaws: He has a crippling fear of death. So much so that he will flee from combat if his health falls below 50%.

He is also a hypocrite without realizing it, He admires the Altmer and agrees with their view on the race of man but instead of changing himself for the better he acts out of emotion and his behavior is chaotic.

He has a untrained body with low constitution.

Citizenship: He is a citizen of Cyrodiil

Relationships: He likes to keep other people at an arm's length. He has no Interest in friends or love since it will mean nothing if he dies or he will outlive everyone if he achieves his goal. He might change his mind if someone can lead him off his self destructive path.

Personality: He is reclusive and cold to other people but still polite. He will only start to open up if he sees a way how the person can help him get closer to his goal. People like Neloth and of course his master Hermaeus Mora are treated with respect.

He has a twisted respect for Altmer, he knows they are superior and he knows the elven viewpoint of things like Talos but is bitter about it. "It's unfair, everything i will accomplish will be gone in a few Decades. Those damn elves have all the time they could want, living for 200, 300 or even 1000 Years."

Vampirism in his eyes is no real escape from death. All you do is prolong the time until death comes for you.

    Backstory

Agrippa was born into a higher class family living in the Talos Plaza District of the Imperial City. His father Ovidius  was a Magister at the Arcane University, and taught about the school of Restoration. His mother Cassipia was a general magic goods store owner, selling soul gems, robes, scrolls spell tomes and various other magical items.

His parents met in the Year 150 when Cassipia brought a delivery of soul gems into the Arcane University where Ovidius was working as a Scholar, Ovidius kept visiting her store after that. He was 22 at the time and she was 19. 3 Years of meeting up and getting to know each other led to them marrying in 153. They had  Agrippa in 154 and lived in Cassipia’s store up to the Year 159 when Ovidius was promoted to the rank of Magister at the age of 33. They could now afford a House in the Talos Plaza District. Cassipia taught her Son how to read and write over the course of the Year 159.

Ovidius, following his family tradition, started to teach Agrippa in the ways of magic when he reached the age of 6 in the Year of 160. He started with the basics of Restoration then branched out to Conjuration and Destruction. Ovidius often dropped Agrippa off at the Mystic Archives where he would read everything he got his little hands on, improving his understanding of the world and magic.

The Archives had an old Altmer Librarian named Orninlil who was a friend of Ovidius from his Apprentice days at the University. Agrippa spend a lot of time with Orninlil and uncovered a few infos about his past, but never found out his true age. He is around 300 Years old, since he was around during the Oblivion Crisis but not alot of his past is known. Orninlil had a shared interest on the Ayleids with Ovidius and, Agrippa also became fascinated with them. Orninlil left Alinor because of his family, he was never credited for his own work since his father and brothers were already well known and it was expected of him, the youngest one, to excel at everything he does. He left for Cyrodiil to make a name for himself outside of the shadow of his family. Orninlil often told Agrippa about how the Mer see the race of Man, or how the Mer viewed incidents throughout History.

After 10 years of Ovidius training and reading countless books inside the Archives, Agrippa knew Restoration magic up to the Apprentice level, he was able to conjure a simple Familiar, he knew 2 very basic Destruction spells of the ice element, and had a good understanding of magical theory. He felt ready and with a recommendation from his father and Orninlil, Agrippa took an entrance exam for the Arcane University. He succeeded and became an Apprentice at the age of 16 in the Year of 170.

Ovidius was sent to skyrim to represent the Arcane University inside the College of Winterhold. He requested to bring Agrippa with him to show the College what an Apprentice from the University is capable of. All he wanted was to stay together with his son so he had to make something up to win over the higher ups. The Council agreed, sending both of them to the College of Winterhold.

Agrippa and Ovidius spend a Year in the College and Agrippa quickly took a liking to the Conjuration Master Falion. Ovidius became friends with the Archmage Savos Aren. The Great War broke out in 171 and Ovidius was called back to defend Cyrodiil from the Altmer. He told Agrippa, who was now 17 to stay in the College, he will send a letter when he can come back to Cyrodiil.

Agrippa started to study under Falion. Falion taught him alot about summoning various Daedra and taught him about the Daedric Princes including their planes of Oblivion. Hermaeus Mora’s plane of Oblivion, Apocrypha, peeked Agrippas interest. Agrippa and Phinis Gestor, another one of Falions students, started bonding over the time he spent at the College. In addition to Falion’s teachings, Agrippa was also trained in the school of Alteration by Tolfdir. Over the course of 4 Years, Agrippa brought his Conjuration up to the Apprentice rank and became proficient in the Novice rank of Alteration.

Agrippa received a letter from his father in 175 after the Great War ended. Agrippa was now 21 and a respectable mage for his age. He traveled back to Cyrodiil and reunited with his Parents.

7 Years passed, with Agrippa working on his studies he now had his Conjuration up to the Adept level, started to learn enchanting and worked on his other magic schools. His rank was raised to Scholar, at the age of 28 in the Year of 182. Ovidius and Agrippa went on an expedition inside an Ayleid Ruin, to celebrate Agrippa's raise in rank.

They were prepared for most things, Traps, Undead or wild Creatures, things often encountered in these Ruins. They never expected to stumble upon a hiding member of the Order of the Black Worm. Ovidius reacted quickly, engaging the black mage. Agrippa locked up, he never had to fight an actual Human to the death. Ovidius put up a good fight but was struck down by a lightning strike. The black mage casted a purple spell on Ovidius. Seeing his own death approaching, Ovidius gathered his last strength and casted an Invisibility spell on Agrippa. Ovidius passed away while a stream of energy traveled towards the black mage. Agrippa broke down sobbing. The mage heard him but couldn't see him. The mage cast a fear spell unleashing a wave of red light which send Agrippa running, burning the image of his dying father into his mind.

Agrippa arrived back at the Academy and reported the black mage to the Council. He went home that night and told Cassipia what happened. Agrippa stood up all night, comforting his mother. They were informed the next day that a group of battlemages killed the black mage, but Ovidius body was taken apart by the mage. They brought back what they could find to the Temple District to give Ovidius a proper Burial. They handed Cassipia his Wedding ring which she kept on her person at all times.

The loss of Ovidius broke Agrippa and the fear of death was branded on his conscious by the black mage. He became reclusive and stopped talking for a while. He spent most of his Days in the Mystic Archives with Orninlil, lamenting his own inevitable demise.

"All the Years of training and all his wisdom ... gone forever, just like that. Even if he wasn't killed now, he would have died of old age eventually. We all die it's inescapable. It's unfair, why was i cursed with this miserable life span? Everything i achieve will be lost forever when i die”.

Orninlil tried to talk sense into the boy but Agrippa became completely obsessed with death and ignored the Mer’s attempts of getting him back on the right track.

Agrippa started to worship Hermaeus Mora for a chance to one day enter Apocrypha and cure himself of death. He also worked on his Conjuration magic to maybe on day travel to Apocrypha himself. He still worked on his Restoration to honor his father. He spent 12 Years secluding himself in his studies, bringing his Conjuration close to the Expert rank and his Restoration nearly to the Adept rank. Agrippa, now 40 Years old, was an Expert on Conjuration, an Adept on Restoration, and at a comfortable Novice rank in Destruction and Alteration.

The same year, in 194, Cassipia grew ill with a disease. Agrippa spend the last days of Cassipia’s life by her side. He blamed himself for everything.

If father were her, he would know how to save you, just because i couldn't act when he needed me the most. Now you will leave me too”.

No one blames you for what happened that day. Your father loved you, I love you, and I know he was proud of you just like me. You will still have Orninlil, he will help you out with whatever you need.”. Cassipia was growing weaker by the moment. She handed Agrippa her and Ovidius’s wedding rings. “You will never be alone, we will always be by your side.”.

Agrippa toon his parents wedding rings and put them on a Necklace, wearing them proudly.

His mother's death only pushed him deeper into his despair. He spend the next 5 years furthering his skills. He took over his Mother's store and kept it barely afloat until he had to close it in 199. He reached the Expert and Adept rank in Conjuration and Restoration and achieved the Apprentice rank in Alteration and Destruction.

A Year passed, it was now the Year 200 and Orninlil couldn't watch Agrippa fall deeper into darkness anymore, he began seeing him as his own son a long time ago. That's when he talked about more than he should have. In a moment of irrational thought Orninlil mentioned that there are various ways to prolong one's life out there in the world. He mentioned the elven way by utilizing Restoration magic or how some ancient Nords are still wandering the halls of their tombs. All he wanted was for Agrippa to feel better but he realized too late what he had done. Agrippa was already out the door.

Agrippa spend the Year of 200 researching various forms of lengthening one’s life span, but he couldn't find anything nearly in depth enough. He started hearing another voice in his head, it appeared that Hermaeus Mora was interested in Agrippa's thirst for knowledge and offered to aid him in his research. Hermaeus Mora instructed Agrippa to travel to Skyrim and seek out his Artifact, the Oghma Infinium, if he wants to be considered worthy to serve him.

Agrippa started his journey to Skyrim in the Year of 201 at the age of 47. He took up the job of a traveling magic item. He traveled to the College of Winterhold first since he had connections with the mages there.

    Fantastic Profile Vez! Stickied.

It's a really interesting take on the run from death. Have you considered Lichdom as an alternative route? I believe it's present in ES lore. And you mention vampirism but don't explain further. Has he been a vampire? Would make sense for the character, especially as he doesn't seem to go out much anyway. I like that you went a different route though, I've never seen the idea before and it's a cracking one.

Also I love the backstory, you can see his descent into obsession, dare I say madness? He's not just some stuffy wizard who decided that living forever would be kinda cool, he's driven by past events, very emotive.

Oh yeah, just thought I'd ask. You don'y happen to read Steelshod do you?

    Thanks Zon ^^

Lichdom is my goal with him and he will probably get a second mini profile linked to this one for when he achieves this goal since it will change some things like apparel and such. ^^

He will become a Vampire but only to overthrow Hakon and kill the vampires in Volkihar Castle. He will get cured after Hakons death since to him vampirism is no real escape from death, vampires have alot of ways to still die in the end. And i didnt want to go with Dawnguard since he would see them as a Threat later on. Who says Isran only hunts Vampires, i could see him going after other unworldy dangers.(like a Lich)

No never heard of that :D

Makes sense to me mate! And I thought I'd ask because there's a character in it called Agrippa, but it must just be coincidence, it is a cool name after all.

I was looking for an Imperial name and found Agrippa, really liked it and after reading its meaning i was set to use it :D

It means: one who inflicted pain by his birth

You could also take it to mean Rebirth ^^

That I didn't know, seems very appropriate then!

I was meaning to read this when it first came out but didn't do so until now and it looks really good. This character revolves around the same concept the character I am playing right now which is to attain Immortality through magic although his story and approach are very different, I will probably post his profile soon-ish.

This character gave me the feeling of someone who delves into the deep parts of the world losing his humanity little by little.
