    Hello one and all

Sotek and Lis extend a warm welcome to all our word smiths and terminal typers.

The Story Corner has always been and will always be a nice quiet, eh, we're not quiet, group where writers of all skills and abilities come and join in with blogs and poems. Where members can pull a chair, or sit on a stool, get buzzed on Nuka cola and enjoy our ever-growing collection of blogs. You could even lay out a fur and sit on that while you enjoy a quiet read. Stay off the step in Jorrvaskr though... Thats Sotek's step! But don't worry, Lis has saved you a swanky seat in the Third Rail.

Every so often though, things get a bit rowdy. The mead is free and the songs are loud, the radio blasts. With all the exciting things coming from E3, including Fallout 76, we thought it would be a perfect time to turn up the radio or play the lute louder, your call, and sing along with you all.

So, to all older members of TSC and to those who are new, you are all welcome in joining us, The Long-Chapper and Sotek, your hosts at the Nuked Mare.

    Welcome to The Story Corner’s…...

We Will Be Your Bards For The Evening

We will be running this event over the whole weekend. The fire's burning bright and the golden mead's flowing free, the Vim's vimming.

To those of you who have recently joined TSC, and for those of you who have yet to stumble over, come along and say a few lines. We'd love to hear from you. For the rest of you... you know what this is about so join in and we'll have some fun.

The Bloodmoon rises, the rad storm comes… Run free - or hop on a Vertibird - and seek out what you will. Show us what you can do by writing poems, lyrics and songs about your travels throughout the Elderscrolls or Fallout's wastelands.

There's nothing worse in the world than a blank piece of parchment, so give it a go.

    Write a few words.

    Read a few stories.

No one knows where the journey will take you and no one can guess who you will meet on the way.

This is the first time I’ve seen an event like this. Sounds cool! I’ll be out of town for part of the weekend, but hopefully will get a few quiet moments to jot a few things down. Quick question: do we post our stuff in the comments section or in a new blog tagged a certain way?

We usually do it as comments in the thread and then either me or Sotek will sometimes mount the whole shebang as a blog. We also pick sometimes silly pseudonyms. :D

    Awwwooo ilanisilver

    To those that howl,
    Awwwooo to you
    To the others,
    I say hello.

Allow me to start with a pointed fang,
And with a howl off key.
Have a go and sing along,
    Or even howl with me

    The Bards are here.
    And the drinks are free
    The rowdy crowd cheer,
And the music has now begun…

If a few lines you have,
Or a melody, or even a poem too,
Just post them in the comments here
We’ll read them through and through

The door is open to one and all,
By foot or paw or metal steed
Come in, sit down or freely stand.
Come, fill your glass with mead.

    A long lost event,

Brought back by a returned host,

    I now bring haiku!

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ◦ ❖ ◦ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

    A keyboard and mind,

Is all I need to bring forth,

    poetry at best.

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ◦ ❖ ◦ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

    A bard I am not,

A poet is what I am,

    Lewd haikus abounds!

Cool, Pocky! Looking forward to lewdness.

After the War, A Night on Valtheim Towers

The night is mine: a dark cloak of cover.
Winter rushes downriver in soft spirals of snow.
    And I am alone.
As I was in the tunnels, the prison, and behind the barricades.
Alone, with the scratch of claws on stone.
Alone, with the flicker of a passing torch.
Alone, with my dagger, ripping flesh. And the iron spray of blood.
These twin towers stand with their arms to the sky
And my eyes follow. My lungs burn for air.
Honor called, and I answered true.
Now I sleep with lamps burning and skooma by my bed.
And always the scratch and the flicker. The clank of steel on steel.
    And screams, trapped and silent.
Winds shriek through chinks in my armor, and I’m not underground, not anymore.
    Never again.
In the distance, a bell rings; my heart freezes, and turns.
But I have bells to sound as well, their brazen tolling sharper, and deeper still.

*This is part of a roleplay I’ve just begun. I’ll probably have it out some time in September, but the poem’s helping me get into my soldier’s headspace. :)

Nice start, thanks for joining in...

It started for me in Morrowind,
    A place called Seyda Neen
I was taken to the Census,
Without a bag, gold or bean.

He made me sign this form,
    Stating who I am.
    Then the door did open
    And my adventure did began

I was given a package, and a note,
but for who I could not say
The Census guard threw me on the street,
And sent me on my way.

Headed to a town called Balmora,
It was somewhere to the northwest.
Past hills and trees, a lake I think,
Still don’t know if my route was best

Years have past as well as many things,
    Adventures great and grand
And now I am in Skyrim
Holding on to my mate’s hand.

I said before and I say again,
My adventures are many, my words are too
Pick up Parchment, pick up pen.
Isn’t it time you wrote yours down too?

So, tell us traveller, adventurer, scribe,
What route was your journey through.
Tell us of the darkest places
where your blade struck so true.

Of Daedra, Dragons, beasts and Mer
Of maidens needing rescued, or men held at bay
Of battles swaying the mightiest of men,
but your ground is where you stay.

So, do tell of your adventures
    We really want to hear,
    Of your glories and victories,
And of those beasts that you still fear…

    What Edana means is this....

    Oh this is awesome,

It's been way, way too long...

    Too much time has past

Since we have heard, TSC's Songs

I'm not much of a poet,

    That you may know,

    I'll give it some thought,

    And give it a go...

At least that's what I think Edana meant...

Got to agree that it's great to see one of these again and to see others just having fun and howling out rhymes. Sotek has opened this with a doozy of a poem, Pocky's haiku promises titillation in future, and Ilani (who needs a nickname, it seems) has been inspired and inspires in turn with something dark and visceral! Not sure I'll be able to join in, was going to do something riffing upon My Star Eyed Bride from Alinor but I depressed the shit out of myself :D Edana, don't think. Do. :D in the words of the Madgod from the Mages Guild quests, maybe you're "a poet but up until now haven't realised it."
