    (this character’s theme)

Three men stood inside a dim, circular room, and although wind and rain could be heard from outside, not even a breeze passed through the still, quiet chamber.

    “Dark, darker, yet darker.

    The darkness keeps growing.

    The shadows cutting deeper.

This next experiment seems very, very, interesting…

    What do you two think?”

The tall, pale High Elf, after speaking, turned to face his associates.

“This is a bad idea Gaster. The consequences if something goes wrong could be detrimental to the whole of Cyrodiil, if not time itself.” an Imperial said gravely, looking at the Altmer.

Gaster slowly stepped towards the Imperial and spoke. “To stand in the way of progress, Dexis, is to imply that you have a better solution.”

He paused and gazed downwards at the Imperial before continuing. “Now, if you do not have anything else to propose, I would suggest we move along.”

Dexis turned away in contempt as Gaster moved back to the table, where there laid an Elder Scroll.

“This will assist us in closing these Oblivion gates and putting an end to this Crisis. And if not, it will at least give us answers as to how we can...” Gaster fell silent as he spoke, the gleam of the Scroll reflecting in his eyes.

“So much knowledge, so much power…” He muttered quietly before speaking aloud.  “While we must take every precaution, we must also make haste. Let us begin”

He looked up at another man, a Breton, standing on an elevated platform, preparing to operate the Core, a mechanism constructed from both Aylid and Dwemer materials. Gaster nodded to him and the Breton pulled a lever and activated the machine.

Rays of light shot down onto the Elder Scroll as Dexis made adjustments on his side of the device. Gaster cautiously reached down and opened the Elder Scroll. The dim room was suddenly filled with light, as the Elder Scroll shone with luminescence and a beam shot down from the Core onto the Scroll.

“I, I can see it! It-” Gaster began to speak when the Scroll let out a flash of light that blinded all three of the men. When Dexis and the Breton could see clearly again, they saw that the Core was badly damaged, but there was no sign of the Elder Scroll, or Gaster.

Wingdin Gaster was born and raised in the Imperial city, during the closing years of the third era. He was extremely intelligent and very talented, and he spent most of his days learning at the Arcane University. In time, he worked his way up to become the emperor’s Royal Scientist and was put in the highest authority in the research of all things magical.

Although the emperor allowed most of Gaster’s experiments to take place without any qualms, he did disapprove and disallowed several of his more, sensitive experiments. Ones involving things such as dark, Daedric, or ancient forbidden magics. Gaster obeyed the emperor, as was required, but he did ever so much want to have more freedom in his research. So much knowledge and power to be gained, if only he was allowed.

However, upon the emperor’s assassination at the hands of the Mythic Dawn, and the opening of the Oblivion gates, Gaster was given complete freedom to perform however he needed, given the dire circumstances. And he knew exactly what he wanted to experiment with as well, an Elder Scroll.

Although he justified tapping into an Elder Scroll’s power with the need for knowledge on how to close the Oblivion gates, he truly wanted to see capability on an Elder Scroll himself. He managed to acquire one from the library in the White Gold Tower and brought it to his machine at the university, which he called ‘The Core’. He and his two assistants used the Core to tap into the Elder Scroll’s power.

Using the Core on the Elder Scroll caused the machine to break, and Gaster to be thrown forward in time and warped through space. It was as if he was nowhere, and everywhere at once. Two hundred years past, but it was merely a moment in time for him to be thrown into the future, in the land of Skyrim. When he came to he had no memories but that of his name, and his body was cracked and scarred. He tried to speak but no sound came from his mouth, only magical symbols appeared in his hands where flesh once was. He was alone, his mind was broken, his voice had been robbed, and he only had his name and the Scroll before him.

After much struggle, he managed to get help from some who said they would take him to someone who might be able to help him. A caravan that would be passing by Winterhold planned to drop him off at the college there. Those in the caravan could not understand Gaster, but after seeing his magic symbols and the scroll he carried with him, they figured someone up at the College might know how to help him.

He was able to see Tolfdir, an old, wise mage at the college. It took them weeks, but they were able to establish basic communication, as Tolfdir began to understand the meaning of some of Gaster’s symbols. Soon, years passed as Gaster learned, researched, and practiced at the College. But the more he learned, the more that the desire for power returned to him. And he would satiate that desire, no matter the cost.

Character inspired by WD Gaster from Undertale. Thanks for reading.

Nicely written and with a good backstory :) Being flung forward in time is very thematically appropriate with the tale of Skyrim. I'm not fmiliar with the source, but despite that I find myself wishing Bound Daedric Scythes were a thing. Or are they already in mod-form? Cool stuff, Loop, and with his own theme tune to boot!

Thank you, that's what I was going for. I've not played Undertale either but I thought this guy would make a pretty cool character. I found this mod.

Awesome profile Loop! Such a unique visual - it's not every day that you see a bloke in an overcoat lobbing Daedric scythes at your head. I really like the detail you've got, changing eye colour is reyt cool and really works with the sinister vibe of the character.

How difficult was this Wingdin to RP? I've never played a character without memory but it seems like it'd be really difficult. Did you let aspects of his personality return over time, or was his pursuit for power his defining trait? And what specifically did he do to gain power, in game?

Thank you. Indeed, could it get more edgy.

Takes a lot of imagination with this kind of character. His personality never really returned, per se. He was and never would be the same since the incident, but there was a certain, growth. I had so that while he was almost entirely different, the want for power was still there. But without any moral restrictions that he may have felt before, he joins the vampires and does practically whatever he wants to gain more power.

Fair enough, so it was less of a change and more so a loss of personality, almost like he became less human (or, well, Elven)? Very cool idea pal, and something I've never really considered - a character without personality would be really interesting to play and RP.

Gotta be honest Zonnonn, that last bit kinda sounds like an insult. :P

But yeah, that's about what I was going for. Thanks for your feedback.
