Hey im contemplating getting expert Restoration for my necromancer to use Circle of Protection effectively.

So the question is would it be fitting for a Necromancer to use Circle of Protection, keep in mind im not talking about an Evil Overlord here something like in the picture. Just a Scholar specialised in Necromancy.

As far as I'm concerned, a true scholar (and a field scholar at that) would always have contingency plans in place in case a reanimation went wrong. Circle of Protection, Turn Unread and Sun spells should be in the arsenal of a necromancer pursuing the craft in the name of science.

As other points of roleplay with the above thinking established would be visiting the morgue (Hall of the Dead) each time you come in to town, using only blessings of Julianos and Arkay, and scattering bonemeal around player homes.

Well my Necromancers main skills are Conjuration and Restoration, he's a Neutral good Scholar specialised in Undead and Souls.

He actually is a Field Scholar researching inside Nord Tombs.

And he is the Scientific type so i'll make sure to side with the Dawnguard, but first i'll buy Undead Healing :D

Ah one of my favorite topics..., nice post!

I can tell you about how I enjoy playing necromancer, in abstract some main things I consider when I play necromancer (on any game actually) is kind of my best favorite build, also is a build and roleplay about a main character of a TES Fan Story I'm making, called The Merchant Series, this character is named Stentius Tereno, an Imperial with a Colovian father and a Nibenense mother, his story is long and I will focus on this topic, also I must say I play with mods, so as I already was going to tell, some main things I really enjoy about playing Necromancer: (suggestion: get your coffe mug or prepare yourself for some time to read :) )

    - Well first I must say this "the sociopath necromancer", but that is not an accurate term, I could name him if I should describe him in short as "the social necromancer" lol that do not sounds too well (well it could be a social necromancer character somewhere actually maybe like Runil from Falkreath hehe, but this is not the case for Stentius, well in a way it is but... just do not sounds good for describe what he is..), maybe a more accurate term would be "the wealthy necromancer", but that do not describe him totally, so that is why I first choose "the sociopath necromancer" due is more easy to understand but again that term is not totally accurate, due he feels emphatically and is empathic (in occassions), that is a reason why he have high speech skills..., he is not an evil one, he is more as a gray character, in a way Stenius is a social person, enjoys people, status, wealthiness and a good life, also is ambitious..., but his ambitious have taken him too far, in simple his main goal is reach immortality due he is too ambitious (as an Imperial and a Merchant)... a very hard path to reach immortality  for an Imperial and the way he will find it will be through daedric rituals, dark arts or necromancy and mysticism..., his personality is all what he is in social life but a "weakness" he have as was already said is his ambitiousness, this makes him have kind of two lives but not literally (well in some cases yes..), his inner side will be always looking for reach immortality and will be involved and focused on study Lichdom, due he found that the best method for extend his life eternal if is possible, but he do not want to loss his "humanity" due he loves and enjoy his life, and actually he likes humanity and is proud of be an Imperial citizen, so what then he reach immortality if that is possible totally or partially or in a way he must be dependent on something to make him keep living, well as already said more than once is his ambitiousness, ambitiousness of wisdom, about the nature of the universe, the creation and what is beyond (if is something beyond) and the point of all is to see if is possible to separate of his own existence on the nature of the universe and be "pure" whatever that would means (the void is the true nature of everything?, the light?, something more?, we are chained to "god's" existence?, it is possible to create another "existence"?), his amitiouss have to be by his hungry for wisdom but is reflected on his personality aswell that is why he enjoys a wealthy life and social status...

    - The guild master Mystic necromancer, my character created his own guild of merchants (long ago), inside that guild he also form a secret brotherhood with the name of The Dark Legion Cult, (I use Guild starter mod) the brotherhood is not that large, some people got a special invitation to enter due some particular features they have what are requirements for being part of the cult, also people could be invited by be a long time member (I'm saying hundred of years.. and that is rarely), but even that is not a simple reason to be notified. The merchant guild is just a trade commerce organization but is a large one and very influential for the empire and Cyrodiil. But as a true Imperial organization it have its own plottery..., that is when The Dark Legion Cult takes part, they deal with what is occult to public about the merchant guild (plottery, thievery, illegal stuff and things not accepted publicly), also the brotherhood is more than simple organized group of selectives, it have it's own philosophy and mostly it dedicates to study and research forgotten arts or also called dark arts, mysticism, and in its most complex subject the nature of the universe, kind of Monomyth book and such but focused on deep about the forces of the universe and what is "beyond" creation, some interrogants are like: "what if the true nature of everything is the void", "what if the creator if exist some form of it in any possible way, is unnatural and in a way we are forced and chained to his existence"... such topics are debated, investigated, researched, studied and put in practice by the higher ranks of The Dark Legion Cult members. The Merchant guild and The Dark Legion Cult have both by their own a strong and well planned organization, systems and ranks.

    - The Manager of resources, his point of view of life is to see everything as a resource but not merely respect the physical or material, he sees every single piece of something have a value, worths something, if is there is for be used, why not apply that to other levels of philosphy, why not use the energies of mysticism, of the nature of the universe for reach something more ambitiouss than existence it self?, by other hand why not use the deceased as resources for support a battle...

    - My character as a guild master enjoys managing as a main manager of the Merchant guild and The Dark Legion Cult, but also likes managing about war and conflicts can be considered a good strategist and when he does use of necromancy always when he totally knows would not give him serious troubles with law or problems againts him of public opinion, he shows his most vast power of managing controlling his summons and raised ones, he is The Manager...

    - Using the corpses of the fallen foes as a way to intimidate the friends or group of my enemies, this also I consider have one more meaning than just intimidating, I see it as way of the necromacner express himself againt the already fallen one or his relatives or people who were around him in that momment, I see it as a really offensive act, like the worst and last humiliation a person (even on death) can have and by the most sarcastical of all he could think or just say his foes: "At least I made worth of you (or your friend) for something useful like aid me in battle"...

    - I like playing the Wealthy Thief (and mad) necromancer, hehe, what means that?, well I like playing merchant with Your own market stall so time to time go to do some bounty board quest (hunt some bandits, loot their bodies or just steal some in some propierties and then sell all the stuff to locals (to anyone people buy stolen stuff)... also another mod I enjoy but is sick is one what adds really creepy zombies to the game (is actually the name of the mod), it adds dismembered parts and limbs of bodies of zombies you kill, like a hand, a leg, foot, etc., also are some weapons as an arm or a leg.. and can be enchanted :B!, like a "frozen leg of death (with ncie frozen effect by some mod)" or "the finger of fire" xD, a hand with fire enchantment (the mod have really immersive graphics), with Your own market stall you can sell stuff... even those creepy zomby parts..., one really surprise sometimes of who ask for such "exotic ingredients" to buy..., also is fun to sell other necromancer stuff, skulls, hearths, etc. (I wonder how that is not illegal...lol).

    - Other aspect of this necromancer character is when he decided to use necromancy is always by a purpose (could be done by experimentation but rarely at least be for practice and study some form of Lichdom) and if is used to fight a foe is a sign about him of showing "dead has come to you for real right now", meaning the enemy will be killed by any means if he saw Stentius made use of necromancy, also if Stentius makes a mistake what is not usual due he is a planning person, he would get nervious and could get a bit paranoid, would make the person who seen him using necromancy be investigated and followed by agents or by his own self, will be followed by days (or even months) and if is seen and judged the person who saw Stentius was not a threath then will be let alive and will not be disturbed in other case would be a mess and if that person is influyent and told others then a new plottery would be made... and there would be deaths... or would be bought people in terms of offering them high amounts of bribery and then more plottery would be by more time and so on...

That's it about how I enjoy playing Necromancer, I hope you had some nice time reading :), anyone who read this.

By the way here goes some pics of Stentius Tereno.. and his necromancy experience :), I want to delight anyone who read this post, the pics are screenshots took by me of gameplay and there is one of The Dark Legion Cult banner I made, also all pics here are related to what I wrote. Bloody hell Med, that's an essay right there! Don't really have much to add but I like how much detail you have for each type, which are all awesome by the way. Good post mate!
