    I'm with Thorien here, i really dont like having to shoot 10 Arrows into a bandit chief while he is walking towards me with arrows stuck in his head. I usually stay on Adept or lower.

    I had to shoot 82 crossbow bolts at Movarth. On Novice. Some of them were even poisoned.

    Yeah it can depends on things like playstyle as you said a melee character like that will have some serious trouble with such a setup compared to a mage. What I 'm doing is adjusting difficulty so that I can kill them or be killed in 3 hits or so which is pretty ok unless I play a mage with summons and all that stuff since with these classes it is easier to take on most things because magic>melee. :D The main thing of combat mods is the combat AI. Skyrim's AI is just very bad especially on humanoid enemies like bandits or draugr who often will just stay and look at you or make an attack once in a blue moon. I would highly recommend to try Wildcat and Mortal Enemies (this just removes the stupid aimbot all creatures/humanoids have in Skyrim making dodging possible) just to test it out, you can keep same level of difficulty disable all other options in wildcat and just have the changes in the enemies' combat AI, everything is adjustable and can be removed in the MCM menu. When I started using combat AI mods it was a breath of fresh air for my experience and much more realistic in game.

    I usually play mages or battlemages and when playing these types of classes the game can become easy at some point so increased spawns and a better AI keep it interesting even at the mid/end game although I can see this being quite hard for a melee two-handed warrior. Also it is kinda enjoyable sometimes running away half dead from a dungeon/place chugging down potions but noting the place and then going back when I 'm stronger to have a rematch. :P

    I think it's somewhat tough for a high level mage as well. When you have to cast Incinerate 10 times to kill a bear... But that's only high-level.

    I currently have 4 characters: a stealthy illusion/destruction mage, a stealthy archer/spellsword, a two-handed/crossbow warrior and a non-stealthy archer/one-handed and shield warrior. Guess which one has the toughest time...

    Yeah it certainly is but I haven't touched vanilla perked Skyrim for years. I used Skyre and after that Ordinator when it came out and magic scales much better as you go up the perk trees with Ordinator, a bear can still two shot me though in most cases but it has to come close to me first and I can also kill it with 4 spells or so.

    I 'd say the two handed warrior?

    I avoid all of the mods that change perks because they add a lot of perks I find useless. Especially Ordinator, perking a whole skill tree would take years lol.

    You say right. That fellow, when he is not in the furry mode, constantly gets beaten by bandits, Silver Hand and mages. Only spiders and wolves don't get a chance to put a tooth on him. While the one-handed & shield one bashes them all with the shield, and the stealthy fellows only become seen when it's already too late.

    Yeah I also had the most challenging melee combat with my two-handed Orc guy which was the first and only time by now that I played with two handed, it was a nice build though might post it at some point. Used bound-battleaxe, flesh spells, destruction runes/cloaks mostly and alchemy (overhauled potions were only healing overtime). I consider shield one of the safest and strong things to use for survival in game. With some points into stamina and potions not only for fighters the best use for shield for me was when I played a shield mage. Standing inside restoration circles with all the DOT spells going around while keeping shieldbreaker up (had some mod added spells but nothing too strong they were pretty normal vanilla style spells) this guy wouldn't budge an inch, unlimited power. :D

    This guy is the classic Nord-style warrior (though he is an Imperial) - heavy armor, no magic, no crafting (the only potions he has are the ones he finds and buys), only a steel battleaxe and a crossbow that he looted from a Silver Hand. He is also low-level yet, hasn't found any useful enchanted items.

    Before I've played a Dunmer who wore just robes, with a battleaxe from Bleak Falls Barrow (it looked as if the Dunmer barely could lift it), but used Restoration, alchemy and enchanting, conjured atronachs and could sneak up on the enemy from behind.

    It has been ages since I played a pure warrior without any magic if I do play one I usually go heavily into alchemy. You could never go wrong with Atronachs. In most of my playthroughs I use these types of deffensive combos like restoration and atronachs rather than having a follower unless they are some cool mod follower like Inigo or the recently released Lucien or someone from interesting NPCs mod like Rumarin, the vanilla ones get boring after a while.
