Aw, too bad. How did she know about Hevnoraak though? Who he was and such.

Sariah only knew about him from (and his name) the ghost.  He was "a powerful evil," so she couldn't just ignore it.  That is why I chose to take her inside the crypt and help the ghost stop Havnoraak.  She wouldn't have actually known that he was a Dragon Priest and that he was surrounded by very tough Draugr.

    Her last entry was:

    19 Last Seed, 4E 201

I awoke early this morning with a feeling of dread.  I can sense the growing evil inside the Nordic ruins, so my path is clear.  I only hope that I can rise up to the challenge and defeat Hevnoraak.  May my Father and Mother watch over me.

The rest was my relaying what happened to her and editorial comments.

Well you could say magic damages the "enchantment' that keeps them Undead :D Or that they collapse after a certain amount of damage. ^^

Errr... If she knew he was a powerful evil, why did she go against him alone? She could have at least looks for someone who might help. Or was that a way to commit suicide?

Indeed. Only it's not an enchantment, it's soul energy.

I consider it simple naivety.  She was somewhat proficient with weapons but had never really experienced true combat.  That made her a little more impulsive in fighting this threat.  And the mission was the simple recovery of urns, not to fight him directly (or so she was told).  I had planned for her to enter and go through until things got tough, then run away and return later (her gaining wisdom in combat).  Unfortunately, all her encounters were easy until the Draugr Wight, whom she actually defeated (though she died in the process).  Had she survived that, she would have retreated, given the significant hit to her health.  It was a costly lesson for her (and playing on Master difficulty with perma-death is always a challenge).

Huh. How many careless Nords probably met the same fate. I find permadeath very exhausting way to play. Coming up with a new character every time is tough.

Never played perma death because I play a very hard modded Skyrim and start my characters super weak in the beginning, even the odd random skeever could kill me sometimes so perma death would be quite frustrating to go with.

I don't play that way because many sometimes it takes me days and even weeks to make a character. Having them die at level 5 would be super frustrating. Also I play for the story, not to prove myself I can kill every monster and survive.

I play on harder difficulties (and with perma-death) to bring some realism into Skyrim.  For me, it isn't about "proving myself."  Fighting three bandits or wolves by yourself should be a challenge.  You should think before acting unless you are naive, foolish, or crazy (or perhaps very confident in your skills)...or unlucky.  And, depending on what mods you use, you can adjust things more.  I have a mod that allows you to resurrect once every 15 minutes (I believe) through the Lover Stone.  You can RP that as a divine blessing or something similar.  I also have a combat mod that makes master difficulty more balanced (both you and the enemy do more damage).

It adds to the excitement, the suspense, and the feeling of accomplishment when I play.  I understand that not everyone plays like that, though, which is absolutely fine.  I like the immersion it offers.  I mean, taking on 4 bandits at level 1, when you don't know much of anything, and barely getting hurt breaks my immersion.  As does dying during that same fight, only to reload and fight them again and then "tweaking the story to fit your desired outcome."  If I want that, I would just write the story without the need to play anything.  To me, this merges both ingredients together into a perfect, tasty recipe.  :-)

PS: I do agree that it can get frustrating when you lose a detailed character.  I find that more of an incentive to play wisely!

I adjust difficulty according to the kind of character I play. If you are a mage or a vampire, three wolves or bandits are a joke. If you are a civilian, not so.

Tbh, I rarely get killed in general, but when it happens, it's usually due to something random (like a werewolf that appeared out of nowhere), not because I don't think. Also I don't like when killing a vampire takes you half a night, it is what breaks immersion for me, because that's not realistic. In real life, you kill a wolf with one arrow, now 10, and they are also afraid of fire. And a lightning spell should be a serious thing, because when you get zapped by electricity IRL that's not funny.

I 'm also adjusting difficulty as I go although I 'm using a few mods to change combat and AI and spawns. The mods I 'm using that affect combat are Revenge of the enemies, Ultimate Combat, Wildcat, Mortal Enemies exactly in this load order and for more enemies I 'm using Populated Skyrim hell edition, Immersive Creatures and OBIS and if I need any further tweaking I might use something like SkyTweak.
