Making the Most Out of the Temporary Infinite Magicka Glitch

*This is Nebula’s, not mine; I’m reposting it with his permission.*

Most people already know of this glitch; however I will explain it for those who don't.

    1. Find Drevis Neloren at the College of Winterhold.

    2. Save, as the glitch does not always work.

    3. Ask him about him needing assistance, or something along those lines.

    4. Receive the quest 'Out of Balance' (make sure to keep this quest active) and equip the Mystic Tuning Gloves.

    5. Find a focal point and activate it, for those playing on consoles, you should feel the controller vibrate if you receive the correct effects.

    6. Test to see if you have infinite magicka by casting a spell, or looking in the active effects menu for one or two effects that only last an hour.

By now you should have the glitched effects; now I will list the best ways to use the effects. Considering they don't last very long, I only recommend trying two or three exploits total during the time limit, as some magic schools take longer to level than others so you may miss out on some things, this can be crucial while power leveling schools that take high magicka based spells to level, as the glitch only increases magicka regeneration highly, not reducing magicka cost.

*Disclaimer: I was not able to test all of these, however they are all mostly self-explanatory*

    1. Conjuration, find a place (preferably a fort) where you can find enemies easily. Or just explore until you find a random bandit or some random encounter. Then proceed to repeatedly soul trap an enemy once the area is clear. Soul Trap will not be able to be casted infinitely by the glitch, so make sure to possibly have some Conjuration enchantments on you gear or have a spell cost reducing perk. It should roughly take you about 10-25 minutes to fully level it up depending on how you do it. And because of the levels you gain through this, you should also be able to cast Atronachs and Dremora with ease after you're done depending on what perks you have taken or what stats you have invested in.

    2. Illusion, most people know that spamming Muffle is an incredibly easy way to level this amazing school up, but it is SO much easier with this glitch. It is so simple, just cast Muffle as much as you can. This spell should not cost too much with the glitched stats, however I do not believe you can cast it infinitely due to the spell cost, even with the correct perks.

    3. Alteration, this school has two options of power leveling, the Detect Life spell, or the Telekinesis spell. With Detect Life, you should go to Whiterun in the daytime so everybody is outside. Then go to the stairway leading up to Jorrvaskr, this area specifically provides many NPC's to be caught with the spell, and will raise your skill with the school easily. The much simpler approach is to just use Telekinesis on random objects. I found that I could gain at least 1 point in the school even without the glitch by using this spell.

    4. Destruction, by far the longest and most tedious way. Make sure to have the spell that conjures a familiar. Then just conjure a familiar, cast a rune under it, then conjure another familiar. The rune will kill both familiars and give you experience for the school. The problem with this is that the second familiar may not always spawn near the rune, so you must find an empty area and test it out. While the College itself is a good place, let’s just say that Nirya didn't have a peaceful death (though she did have some nice Expert Robes).

    5. Find a Horker, kill it, and then raise it up again. This will count it as undead, so you can cast various spells in the school to make it flee, while it's too slow to actually go anywhere (credit to Mason).

Whelp, there you have it. This is probably the most useful glitch in the game for mages, however keep in mind that you WILL gain many levels while doing this, making enemies harder in the process, meaning you should invest your perks correctly while leveling various schools. For those who do not mind cheating their way through levels to get awesome spells, DO THIS NOW! This actually made playing a mage enjoyable for me, as I was able to get the summoning spells early with no problems. It may seem like I'm listing the most well-known ways to level magic as if nobody has heard of these methods before, however this glitch makes these methods much easier and are great for people who don't want to wait for hours and hours just to summon a Dremora. If you know any other methods, please tell me and I will add them to the list.

    Additional Tips from Parabola

    1. You can hammer the activate button on the focal points to increase your odds of picking up the +100 magicka bonus you are looking for. Parabola's even managed to get it twice at once! Also, you only need to save just prior to the activation; you don't need to redo the conversation with Drevis.

    2. In terms of the skill leveling horkers are your friend. They're slow enough to avoid easily and allow you to spam anything that needs an active enemy without bothering you too much.

    3. For leveling Destruction (and Restoration) go with a rune in one hand and a heal other type spell in the other hand and lay into a horker, healing it constantly.

    4. For leveling Conjuration casting Bound Sword in both hands while running circles around a horker is really fast. You can sheath your hands after casting the spell but before the swords appear; you'll still get the exp and this allows you to cast much more frequently. There is a rhythm to this.

Another way to get infinite magicka (although only for continuous spells such as flames) is to use the secret of arcana black book power, then cast the spell and hold it. even when the power runs out you will still have infinite magicka

I love this glitch and use it regularly. A couple of notes. You can hammer the activate button on the focal points to increase your odds of picking up the +100 magicka bonus you are looking for. I have had it twice at once! Also you only need to save just prior to the activation, you don't need to redo the conversation with drevis. In terms of the skill levelling horkers are your friend. They are slow enough to avoid easily and allow you to spam anything that needs an active enemy without bothering you too much. For destruction I go with a rune in one hand and a heal other type spell in the other and lay into a horker healing it constantly. Still the most painful school to level but think this is quicker than summoning.

Oh, and for conjuration casting bound sword in both hands while running circles round a horker is really fast. You can sheath your hands after letting the spells go but before the swords appear, you still get the xp and his allows you to cast much more frequently. There is a rhythm to this.

Thanks for the tips; I'll go ahead and add them into the post. I use the Bound Sword one with all of my Conjuration builds, actually; though it's with any old enemy who happens to around, not necessarily a horker.

I've been looking into the best ways to power level Destruction for build playtesting, so thanks for this!  It brings info for other schools I don't need to grind right now into one location, so I can look this up later when I need a Necromage vampire.
