Shield Charge Doesn't Break Invisibility (or Become Ethereal)!

You can train it to 75 for free with Njada Stone-Arm if you complete the Companions line (only a few hours of time, and many characters will do that fairly early on and be Harbinger by level 20 or so). Pay for training from 75 to 90 with Larak, and use skill books + Scholar's Insight (or Oghma Infinium) to get from 90 to 100. Or use any of the free skill boosts listed on the UESP page for that matter.

Block levels slowly, but with a bit of planning, you can max it out by the mid-game.

A good question to ask, for sure. I don't know of any others, personally. I assume shield charge works because there's no actual attack animation; even when you hit someone/something, it must be registered as a collision rather than an attack. I suppose perhaps Wind Cloak would be a good "poor man's Shield Charge" for players who haven't hit 100 Block yet, but of course, you'd need to cast the cloak before going invisible.

I've tested the various Mora tentacle effects with Ethereal and found no success there; I assume the same applies to invisibility, though I haven't tested. Any other ideas for things to test? Unfortunately, there's no easy way to answer the question. There's no list of effects that do break Invisibility, so we'd just need to test everything, one at a time. We can rule out conventional attacks and activating any object. That basically leaves indirect forms of damage distribution (like cloaks and, apparently, shield charge). Any others like these you can think of?

I'm quite sure any form of pickpocketing breaks invisibility. Not sure about ethereal form though.

I read giants are good for fast-leveling your block.

I am pretty sure you can sneak while Shield Charging too. So it just becomes uber at this point when no one can find you.

Interesting, I never thought to try that. Invisible sneaking shield charge sounds absolutely silly, I love it!
