I don't know about following up from a shout directly (or at least making combos starting with a shout from the get-go) but you can use shouts with no animation by entering a preparation stance with blocking. Blocking will prevent the use of shouts until you break the animation and the game will automatically use it (1 word if you tap the power button or however many words you have unlocked if you hold it until block is broken) while not incurring an animation for it. This means you can enter block to use quick reflexes, bash an opponent while charging elemental fury to burst into a blade dash, murdering your opponent and distancing yourself from other opponents. It also means you can quickly set into a quick reflexes/ slow time overlap for a long lasting bullet time, leading into being able to really play havoc between weapon charges and block charges to knock enemies around and deal massive damage while they turn only to be flanked. One trick I do know that starts with a shout is Whirlwind Sprint assassination. To do it you have to Whirlwind Sprint (while having Quiet Casting perked) and hold the attack button with a weapon/set-up to one-shot with a sneak attack. It will trigger the animation as soon as you get close enough, meaning no room for error (unlike the sneak pounce technique) but you don't benefit from the automatic critical hit.

I'm not sure if I'm fully understanding what you are saying at the end about the whirlwind sprint assassination. Are you saying that as soon as you are in range, despite the length you have traveled during the short, will be canceled just by buffering the attack? So if you had only traveled half the length you would stop and attack the moment the enemy is close? Does it have to be a kill cam for this to work?

It stops as soon as they are in range and it triggers the throat cutting/ back cleave kill-cam in order to position and stop the sprint itself.

Here is another one for those barbarian two handed lovers. Sadly this applies only for battleaxe and warhammer. Still cannot find the trick to make it work for greatsword. Here is how to do it:

    1. First make sure that you have stamina (somehow this trick need stamina but it won't consume it if done right)
    2. Do a block-bash, while doing the bash press together the forward button (left/right/backward button also work)
    3. If executed correctly the bash won't consume stamina but did the weapon attack damage (including enchant)
    4. This can be followed quickly by a normal swing/power attack. This can be chained back to the bash-cut again.
    5. This means that two handed combo can be either:
    • bash-cut, normal swing (repeat ad infinitum) then end it with a nice two handed power attack, or
    • Two handed power attack, then while the opponent staggers do the bash-cut, normal swing combo

Perfect for a badass staff wielding monk or battlemage playthru. Just enchant your battleaxe or warhammer and rename it as battle staff and start mowing down and reaping those enemies. This seems to push the two handed dps to be at least on par with one handed (gut feel only, feel free to test to get the actual number, but still cannot be compared to two handed i guess).
