Fantasy Novel Plan (Feedback Wanted!)

  • May 30, 2017

I would really appreciate any constructive critisism or helpful comments anybody may want to give. This novel is inspired by the Elder Scrolls Universe, the Game of Thrones series, and the Dragon Age series, and a little bit of Dragon's Dogma as well.

    Plot Background

This Novel is set in Ideria, one of the twelve continenents of the world.

Thousands of years ago, the ancient gods of old formed a truce with the demonic forces of the void. King Bruek of the Void agreed to let the ancient gods create a magical barrier around the world (called Magnus) that would keep demonic forces out, as long as once every twelve years, each king (each continent is ruled by a king. There are 12 continents on Magnus) randomly picked one-thousand citizens from their domain,of any age, shape, or size, to be sent through a voidportal (a portal to the void) which is usually created far out in the Deep Forest. King Bruek, an immortal demon-king who has lived for milennia, would be able to do whatever he wished with these citizens. Usually they ended up dead, or worse.

However, the most recent "sacrifice"to the King of the Void ended in disaster. Arch-Magi Mordren, the advisor to King Umfrey, who is the current ruler of Calderia, was given the job to create the voidportal. Unfortunately for Calderia and the rest of the world, nobody had noticed that Mordren had been in the Great Library recently - but we'll get to that later. To cut a long story short, Mordren opens the voidportal in the Deep Forest, and Mordren there reveals his malicious intent. Demons pour out from the portal, including hellhounds and seducers, and begin to rain chaos down upon all the prisioners, killing almost allof them but for four or five. The Arch-Magi himself is also murdered by a hellhound.

However, one of the prisioners, a crafty young mage by the name of Divior, manages to escape, stealing the staff of the dead Arch-Magi as he does so. Later on in the novel, Divior discovers that the staff has a useful ability that Mordren must have spent a long time learning how to use.

    More about the Demon Horde

The Demon Horde is made up of about ten million demons.

Demons do not have specific genders, and because of this demons are not born, they are created by their "parent" using magic. All demons are immortal, at least two and a half metres tall, and are incredibly muscular and strong - it is physically impossible for them to gain weight in fat.

All demons are extremely gifted in magic, especially Chronomancy and Pyromancy. They are immortal, meaning they cannot naturally die by any means, however they may be slain. Some demons choose not to use magic, and instead use more human methods of combat, such as using swords or bows.

Most demons can also summon other beasts from the void, however these beasts are not powerful enough to gain the title of "demon". These beasts are often refered to as familiars by humans.

Familiars can take any shape of form they wish, however they are limited in size; most are not powerful enough to grow bigger than a large dog. Familiars are often used by their masters to infiltrate their masters enemies by assuming the shape of one of them. For example, a familiar might disguise itself as a human in order to fit in with other humans. However, all creatures of magic usually give off an aura of power that can be quite simple to detect; the less power the being contains, the harder it is to find its magical aura.

The Demon Horde is led by King Bruek and his four lieutenants, and his wife, Sahyla.

Bruek, Sahyla, Rayhal, and Gluk all use magical staves in combat. However, Dahek prefers to use a sword or battleaxe, and Diak is a master of the bow.

This is original as it can get on this site. Is the story set in the world of the Elder Scrolls?
