    Some Context

Skyrim has been growing dimmer and dimmer for me as a game. I love it to pieces, I really do, but honestly, I wish I could enjoy it in the same way as I used to. So, I kicked restartitus in the chest, took up my bow and got questing. Using the Alternate Start mod I began as a patron in Falkreath inn; from here my idea developed. I wanted a dark, but holy character that stalked his prey just out of eyesight and that could kill at range with ease and dominate the field even when discovered with sword and spell, a trait lacking in many traditional archer characters. Finally, Dexius began to emerge, the most engaging character I had played in a long time. I made a set of rules for myself that I must abide by, this gave the gameplay rhythm and gave Dexius depth as a character. By the end game, Dexius was one of the most enjoyable characters I had ever played, I hope you will enjoy him as much as I did.

    Determined.

    Vengeful.

    Exiled.

    Backstory

I am Dexius Harenix, I was once a member of the Order of Arkay, my heart devoted to him. My parents had always encouraged the respect of the dead.

My father was killed by skeletons within a catacomb whilst praying for the dead; it was that, I suppose that set the burning passion in my heart.

The Order needed passion, passion in one's goal will bring that goal closer much more swiftly, no? Alas, not mine.

They called me too angry, too hateful, too full of rage. They cast me out of the Temple.

But I was determined. Determined that the undead would pay.

Skyrim, a place where the Halls of the Dead and barrows are many and the undead even more.

Skyrim will feel the wrath of Arkay's holy light...

    Gameplay

Archery: Your best friend whilst sneaking and at a distance, the Ranger perk certainly earned its spot in my arsenal due to it allowing ease of dodging whilst firing arrows, something that hinders Archery at lower levels, definitely aim for that perk as soon as possible, though I didn't have it until about level 25.

One-Handed: Dexius' secondary means of attack. At melee range, Dexius is deadly to his undead foes as he wields a Silver Sword, the extra damage will make close up combat much easier since he would normally be hindered by the use of light armor and that he isn't wearing a full set of it.

Restoration: Used to smite undead and heal wounds. Dexius learned much about this skill in his time in the Order of Arkay, in a way he is glad he was banished, else he may have never taken to purging Skyrim of the undead and giving balance to the cycle of Life and Death.

Alteration: A useful skill, since Dexius doesn't benefit from any perks that require wearing full light armor or rely on Smithing to get his job done, the bonus AR from Ebonyflesh has save his backside on more than one occassion.

Sneak: Used so that Dexius can get the drop on enemies with his bow, an invaluable skill even with few perks, especially in conjunction with the muffle enchantment on the Shrouded Boots.

Light Armor: Dexius' means of defending himself as well as keeping him light on his feet, just in case something goes wrong and he needs to make a swift retreat.

"Arkay says: Honor the earth, its creatures, and the spirits, living and dead. Guard and tend the bounties of the mortal world, and do not profane the spirits of the dead."

    Chivalry of the Acolyte

Destroy any and all undead life around you, leave none "alive."

After purging a barrow, tomb or catacomb, you must perform the sacred rites.

    Never take innocent life.

Do not follow the influence of a Daedra unless absolutely necessary.

Any who may attempt to kill the Hand of Arkay's will upset the balance, thus they must be killed to restore it.

Destroy any pretenders who take innocent life for coin.

Make Pilgramage to High Hrothgar and receive the blessings of the sky

Pray at an Altar of Arkay once each day.

    Sacred Rites of the Acolyte

    The sacred rites require

    • Two Red Mountain Flowers (Per performance.)
    • Mourner's Clothes and Hat
    • Any words of Kyne's Peace
    • Amulet of Arkay
    • Ten or more septims

    Now do the following:

    1. Equip Mourner's Clothes and Hat.
    2. First Word of Kyne's Peace.
    3. Eat Red Mountain Flower.
    4. Second Word of Kyne's Peace.
    5. Equip Amulet of Arkay.
    6. Third Word of Kyne's Peace.
    7. Place Red Mountain Flower on boss tomb or on an altar.
    8. Place ten septims in any container on your way out.

First Batch of Quests "Dawn of the Acolyte": College of Winterhold (Until Hitting the Books.), Investigate Shroudhearth Barrow, Andur's Amulet of Arkay, Runril Dungeon Delving Radiant Quest, Frostflow Lighthouse, Blind Cliff Cave (Killing both Melka and Petra), The Golden Claw, Dawnguard, Dawnguard Radiant Quests.

Second Batch of Quests "Dragonborn": Civil War (Imperials), Main Quest, Dragonborn, The Man Who Cried Wolf, The Wolf Queen Awakened, March of the Dead, The Final Descent, Served Cold.

    Combat

Living Enemies: As I stated above, any and all who try to kill the Acolyte upset the balance, bandits, hostile mages and so on so forth.

Used Weapons: Silver Sword, Dwarven Blackbow of Fate, Ebony Arrows.

Dexius enters sneaking and using muffle, he then picks off as many opponents as possible with his bow, he does not try to be detected by any means, but doesn't worry if he is found. If Dexius is discovered he continues to use his bow until his opponent (Or opponents) is within melee range, once there he will switch into his Siver Sword and cast a flesh spell to maximize his AR, then he will normally switch into a healing spell in case the opponent is particularly powerful, from there he should make short work of any that come close.

For Mages Dexius, once again, enters sneaking with muffle and picks off as many as he can using his bow. once discovered, he casts a flesh spell charges his opponents with his sword, since he has an overall Magic Resistance of 55% and magic takes a moment to charge up anyway, he doesn't need to worry too much about the damage, especially on later levels, but he can keep a healing spell in the offhand in case of a particularly high damaging mage. Make sure you take Archers down whilst muffle sneaking first, since they have the advantage of range once they detect you and they can often be a pain to prioritize after being discovered, since you'd have to fight through the other enemies to get to them most of the time. If discovered and there are still Archers left alive use your Blackbow to finish them off before going for the other enemies.

Unliving Enemies: His main target, the bane of Dexius' existence.

Weapons Used: Silver Sword, Auriel's Bow, Sunhallowed Elven Arrows

Dexius can pick off Draugr whilst they're resting in their tombs using his bow without muffle, most of them will die quite quickly due to the sneak bonus and massive sun damage dealt to them by his arrows. If caught in open combat, Dexius can still use his bow to pick off enemies at a distance as the sun damage is still enormous, but once in melee range switches into his Silver Sword and casts a flesh spell. From there, Dexius casts Circle of Protection/Guardian Circle and Stendarr's Aura, then switches into either Sunfire or Vampire's Bane to finish the job, Sunfire is more effective on lower level enemies as it picks them off faster whereas Vampire's Bane is useful for killing off higher level undead since it  causes them to flee, allowing Dexius to pick off weaker enemies first.

Undead Mages should be picked off with Auriel's Bow and sun spells as quickly as possible, as they can be a huge pain in the neck what with their frost spells and slowing Dexius down. Dragon Priests should not be rushed like enemy mages, but instead fought from a distance where Dexius can evade their spells whilst shooting holyfire at them. Archers should also be prioritized from the melee rabble since they can be especially irritating when Dexius is trying to kill that one Deathlord and spamming their arrows.

So, here is is guys, my first build in quite a while, five or six months in fact. I'm a little rusty as I haven't been exactly polishing my skills, so if anything is missing please go ahead and say (It's also quite late at night when I'm typing this.)

All art goes to their original owners (Hope you liked my first attempt at a perkspread.)

As always, leave your comments and criticisms below and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.~

Looking good, Morty. I like the idea of having those rules you have to abide by as a servant of Arkay, and the Sacred Rite is a pretty interesting touch. Also, I like having two separate batchs of quests like they're different legs of your journey. And lastly, the gear is a pretty interesting mix, seems cool. The silver sword is underused in my opinion. I love it's fancy aesthetic and how it's the closest looking thing to a rapier in the vanilla game, if you ask me. Though, maybe you could go more in depth about the mechanics of combat as Dexius and how you handled different types of unholy fiends? Besides that, +1

Thank you, thank you, Blooded. I agree that the Silver Sword is absolutely marvelous in terms of design, shame it's damage output isn't so great. And yes, I will go more in depth on that, it's just very late at night at the moment and I'm procrastinating resting.

You cannot mod on PS3, as far as I'm aware, BUT, you're fine, because I made sure not to include any mods in my playthrough.

Ah, doi. Sorry. Alternate Start isn't required at all, I just often forget it's not part of the vanilla game because I have it in my load order 24/7
